Present: Chairman Bill Harkins, Bob Nelson, City Engineer Cook,
Bill Allen, Moe Sims, Manny Puentes, Chief Laughlin
Absent: Jack Arnold
1. Approval of Minutes
Changes to the minutes for the October 1972 meeting were tabled
until the December 1972 meeting. Staff was directed to prepare
several possible street name plans for the Highland Drive and
E lmwood S t ree t inter sc c t ion.
2, Introduction of New Member
The new member to the Traffic Safety Commission, Lt, Col. A1 Wood,
was introduced.
3. Traffic Control at Carlsbad Blvd. and State St.
Intersection improvements at Carlsbad Blvd. and State Street were
discussed by City Engineer (see attached plan), This plan gives
consideration to the downtown businesses on State Street. A motion
was passed (Sims-Nelson) to implement the intersection plan.
4. Railroad Grade Crossinqs
A motion was passed (Nelson-Sims) to make railroad grade crossing
gates the number A-1 priority,
5. Sidewalk on One-way Portion of Buena Vista Way
Chief Laughlin recommended "NO Parking" signs for the double yellow
striped sidewalk on the one-way portion of Buena Vista Way between
Pi0 Pic0 Drive and Elmwood Street. City Engineer recommended giving
a few citations to violators and watching the problem. The violators
may be habitual and, therefore, signing costs may not be warranted.
6. Set Date of Next Meeting
The date of the next meeting was set for December 4, 1972 at 3:OO PM,
