MINUTES PRESENT: Alan Jacobs, Bob Nelson, Rick Cecelski, John Lusignan, Wally Rossall , Kent Whitson and Les Evans ABSENT: Manny Puentes, Bi 11 Bal dwi n The Traffic Safety Commission toured several areas in the City which are of current concern. 1. 2. 3. 4. Request for STOP Control at the Intersection of Cazadero Drive and Corintia Street The Commission observed this intersection in the field and investigated the circulation patterns in the immediate neighborhood. The Cammission was unanimous in its feeling that STOP signs were not warranted at this time due to the light residential traffic in the largely undeveloped area. Request to Remove YIELD Signs on Unicornio Street and Place Them on Corintia Street The Commission observed this intersection in the field and studied recent traffic counts. On the basis of the traffic count data, Unicornio is the less traveled street and therefore the logical place for YIELD control. The Commission agreed that the signing should not be changed. Request to Study Parking Problems at the Chase Field Sports Facilities on Harding Street The Commission observed the parking situation surrounding the athletic fields and heard a report from Les Evans. Essentially, no parking problems had been noted during a week of observation, between 6 and 9 p.m. The Commission request required careful consideration and more study. Several of the Commissioners agreed to observe the parking situation in the evenings. Les Evans was asked to contact the Park and Recreation Commission to insure he understood the problem correctly and was observing at the right times. Request for Four-Way STOP at Elm Avenue and Jefferson Street The Commission took a look at the conditions at this intersection and reviewed recent traffic counts. volumes on Elm and relatively light volumes on Jefferson would not justify four-way STOP control. Ocean Avenue Parking The Commission studied the parking situation on Ocean Avenue north of Grand Avenue.
