PLACE OF MEETING: City Council Chambers CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 3:09 P.M. by Chairman John Lusignan. ROLL CALL Present - Chairman John Lusignan, Members Ralph Darton, Captain Wally Rossall, Wes Terry, and Larry Dossey. Absent - Members Arthur Kantor, and Bill Baldwin. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes of the Regular Meeting, held December 7, 1981 were approved as submitted . 2. GRANADA WAY & SANTA CLARA WAY - REQUEST FOR STOP SIGN. The Commission recommended that the Police Department emphasize extra patrol for the area. Off-Agenda Item Mr. Littlefield referenced the fence at the intersection of Granada Way and Trieste which is on City property, and expressed concern that same is an obstruction. The Connnission advised Mr. Littlefield that it was not a matter for the Traffic Safety Comission; however, they requested that Staff check into same and apprise Mr. Littlefield of any action taken. TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION February 1 , 1982 Page 2 3. PI0 PICO & LAGUNA - REOUEST FOR NO PARKING SIGNS ON THE WEST SIDE OF PI0 PICO. The Commission advised Staff to forward the Work Order to the Maintenance Department, requesting a red curb be painted at the end of Laguna Drive along the west side of Pi0 Pic0 to provide a no parking zone. 4. DOVE LANE & EL CAMINO REAL - ADDITIONAL CIRCULATION Larry Dossey indicated that he spoke with Mr. Dedera, the complainant, regarding the matter, and Mr. Dedera indicated that he was in agreement with the staff recommendation, which was that Sandpiper Lane go through to Dove Lane, if it is ever dedicated as a public street. The Cormnission requested that Staff stay in contact with the developer regarding this matter. 5. PASEO DEL NORTE - REQUEST FOR SPEED LIMIT SIGNS. The Commission discussed alternatives to the Staff recommendation of no action, such as installing additional signing and the possibility of Council adopting an Ordinance to lower the speed limit in the area. The Cormnission recommended that an engineering study be done, based on the sight distance and existing 55 mile per hour speed limit, and requested that Staff report back to the Commission with a proposed speed limit for the area. 7. JEFFERSON STREET - SLOPE CUT. Mr. Joseph Angarola addressed the Commission. He showed a slide presentation outlining the sight distance from his driveway. Angarola clarified his position to the Commission on the matter, indicating that he was not requesting that the City cut the entire slope back, only remove the brush and cut back a few feet to alleviate the sight barrier. Mr. The Commission recommended that Staff request the Parks and Recreation Department remove some of the brush from the slope. 6. LEVANTE STREET - REQUEST FOR STOP/YIELD SIGNS AT VARIOUS INTERSECTIONS. The Commission reviewed a diagram proposing new stop and yield controls at various locations along Levante, as requested by the Police Department. used. The Commission continued the matter to the next meeting, pending the report from Mr. Whitson. Off-Aeenda Item Member Wes Terry expressed concern with regard to the sight distance at the intersection of Cerezo Court and Los Robles Drive. The Commission directed Staff to report back with regard to the yield and sight distance at the intersection of Cerezo Court and Los Robles Drive.
