Absent -- Commissioner Herring. Staff Members Present: Bob Johnson, Traffic Engineer Sgt. Carpenter, Police Department APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes of the Meeting held August 7, 1989, were approved as presented. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: There were no requests to address the Commission on a non-agenda item. OLD BUSINESS: Bob Johnson reported that the Carlsbad Boulevard speed zone was approved by Councll, and the Car Country two- hour parking limlt w II be before Council tomorrow nlght. The Carlsbad High School two hour parking is pending until it is reviewed by the City/School Coord f nat i ng Comm i ttee. NEW BUSINESS: 6A. Pontiac Drive - Tamarack Avenue to Victorla Avenue - Reauest to establish a NO PARKING zone on both sides of the roadway. Bob Johnson gave the presentation as contained in the Staff Report, addlng that Commissioner Fuller had pointed out there are two homes south of Victorla on the westerly side of the street. He added that it was not the intent to deprive those residents parking in front of their homes, so the NO PARKING would be 150 feet south of Victoria. Mr. Johnson stated that the parklng will be removed and a five-foot wfde blcycle lane would be painted on both sides of the street. Mr. Johnson asked for the Coordinating Committee recommendation to be implemented, modified to declare NO PARKING from Tamarack to Victoria on the easterly side of Pont lac and from Tamarack to the south I Im It of the two homes, 150 feet south of Victoria; the City to stripe blke lanes on each side of the street flve feet in width. Me1 ideo Ful ler 0 'Day MINUTES September 11 NEW BUSINESS: (Continued) The Traffic Safety Commission approved the recommendation of the Traffic Safety Coordinating Committee, establishing a NO PARKING zone on both sides of Pontiac Drive from Tamarack Avenue to Victorla Avenue consistent with previously approved Planning Commission resolutions; modif led that there be parking a1 lowed on the west side of Pontiac from Victorla southerly to the southerly limits of the houses fronting thereon; in addltlon, a five foot bicycle lane be striped on both sides of Pontiac Drive, beginning at Tamarack Avenue and terminating at Victoria Avenue, where residential on- street parking begins. REPORT FROM TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSIONERS: Commissioner Fuller announced he would be on Jury Duty d ur i ng October. REPORT FROM TRAFFIC ENGINEER: Bob Johnson announced that Commissioner Ward reslgned from the Traffic Safety Commission to be appointed to the Parks and Recreation Comml ss ion. Mr. Johnson announced that the next Commission Meeting wou Id be October 2, 1989.
