Executive Summary/Discussion Arts Education Coordinator Laurette Garner will present an overview of past and current programming with a specific focus on upcoming virtual arts education experiences. Past activities include in-person programs over the summer such as: • Club Peacock, in collaboration with Parks & Rec at Leo Carrillo Ranch • Seven weeks of day camp, in collaboration with Parks & Rec at Pine Avenue and Stagecoach Community Parks Newly-implemented virtual programs are: • Virtual Club Pelican • At-Home Art Projects • Art Lessons for Teachers • Art Kits for Carlsbad Unified School District students, teens and families Each of the upcoming programs has been transformed into a virtual experience for either teachers or community members: • Three-Part Art will offer a live virtual gallery tour for teachers via Google Meets and provide a pre-recorded gallery tour, a pre-recorded arts instruction video for one lesson and free art kits for students. • The California History & Art Program will offer a live virtual tour of the ranch, pre-recorded tour of the ranch, pre-recorded arts instruction and live virtual arts instruction for a ranch-inspired art project. • Family Open Studios will present a live virtual arts instruction video via Zoom on two specific dates for families and friends of all ages. A pre-recorded arts instruction video will also be available to view at any time. Free art kits will be provided to all registered participants and be available for curbside pickup at the Carlsbad City Library. Next Steps Staff will provide an update as appropriate to the conclusion of each program. Fiscal Analysis No additional city funding is being requested at this time.
