HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-11-17; City Council; Resolution 2020-219RESOLUTION NO. 2020-219 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE BUILDING NAME CHANGE FROM SAFETY CENTER TO POLICE AND FIRE HEADQUARTERS WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California has determined that it is in the city's best interest to rename the Safety Center to the Police and Fire Headquarters; and WHEREAS, the requested building name change conforms to all requirements of City Council Policy No. 48, Naming of Parks, Facilities & Amenities in Parks; and WHEREAS, the costs of the sign replacements for the facility name change will be approximately $3,000 and will be funded by the police department using the FY2020-21 operating budget; and WHEREAS, the City Planner has determined that the Project is categorially exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15301 (Existing Facilities), subsection (g), and that no exception to the exception, as set forth in CEQA Guidelines section 15300.2, applies. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the facility name change is adopted, and the Safety Center is renamed the Police and Fire Headquarters. 3. That renaming the Safety Center to the Police and Fire Headquarters and changing copy on signs is categorically exempt from environmental review pursuant to California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines Section 15301 and that no exception to the exemption as set forth in CEQA Guidelines section 15300.2 applies. Nov. 17, 2020 Item #5 Page 3 of 5 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Carlsbad on the 17th day of November, 2020, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Hall, Blackburn, Bhat-Patel, Schumacher.
