RESOLUTION NO. 2016-209
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE
AMOUNT OF $2,500 FOR EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS RESOURCES
THROUGH THE FISCAL YEAR 2016 SAN DIEGO GAS AND ELECTRIC SAFE SAN
DIEGO GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS,and the Carlsbad Fire Department's Emergency Preparedness Division has been
allocated funds through the Fiscal Year 2016 San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E)SAFE San Diego grant
initiative to support the Carlsbad Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)to enhance
community preparedness; and
WHEREAS,Carlsbad's Emergency Preparedness Division,based on lessons learned from the
2014 Poinsettia Fire,proposes to purchase personal protective equipment for Carlsbad CERT
volunteers, specifically SPF-rated, broad-brimmed sun hats, for enhanced protection during outdoor
response support operations under hot and direct sun conditions.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California,as follows:
1.That the above recitations are true and correct.
2.That the purchases specified are authorized in compliance with the grant.
3.That the City Manager of the City of Carlsbad or his designee is hereby authorized and
directed to execute said award with San Diego Gas and Electric and its designated agent,
the Burn Institute, for receipt of the subject grant funds,as well as any required reports
and/or final statements.
4.That the Administrative Services Director is authorized to appropriate $2,500 for Fiscal
Year 2016 San Diego Gas and Electric SAFE San Diego initiative grant program purchases
to the Fire Department Preparedness CERT program.
PASSED,APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad on the 25th day of October, 2016, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES:Hall, Wood, Schumacher, Blackburn, Packard.
NOES:None.
ABSENT:None.
