HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-08-26; City Council; Resolution 2014-2021 RESOLUTION NO. 2014-202 3 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE FY2013 US DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY OPERATION 4 STONEGARDEN GRANT AND APPROPRIATING $28,000 IN ADDITIONAL FUNDS TO EXTEND PARTICIPATION IN JOINT ANTI- 5 SMUGGLING OPERATIONS IN COASTAL NORTH COUNTY SAN DIEGO. 6 7 8 9 10 14 15 16 17 WHEREAS, the US Department of Homeland Security has identified the goal of increased border security; and WHEREAS, the San Diego County Sheriffs Department received funds from the US 11 Department of Homeland Security and is authorized to execute expenditure contracts to 12 reimburse participating cities for overtime and mileage; and WHEREAS, the FY2013 Operation Stonegarden operational period started in October 1, 2013 and has been extended through May 31, 2015, in order to fully expend all funds; and WHEREAS, Carlsbad Police Department has fully expended the initial $25,000 allocation for participation in FY2013 Operation Stonegarden; and 18 WHEREAS, it is the desire of Carlsbad Police Department to continue to participate in this 19 program to increase coastline security; and WHEREAS, Carlsbad Police Department requested and received an additional $28,000 to continue participation for the remainder of the grant operational period. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, 20 21 22 23 24 as follows 25 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 26 2. That the Administrative Services Director is authorized to appropriate $28,000 to the Public Safety Grant Fund for the additional funds awarded under the Fiscal Year 2013 Operation Stonegarden Grant. 4. That the Chief of Police is authorized to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Operation Stonegarden (OPSG) Grant on behalf of the City ofCarlsbad.
