HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-10-08; City Council; Resolution 2013-2451 RESOLUTION NO. 2013-245 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR POLICE EQUIPMENT THROUGH THE FISCAL YEAR 2011 URBAN 4 AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE (UASl) GRANT PROGRAM 3 5 WHEREAS, The United States Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs ^ (OJP) and the Office of Domestic Preparedness (ODP) provide federal grant funds which are 7 administered to states through the State Domestic Preparedness Grant Program for the 8 purchase of specialized equipment to enhance the capability of state and local agencies to 9 respond to incidents of terrorism; and 11 WHEREAS the City of San Diego Office of Homeland Security is the designated 12 "Metropolitan Urban Area" for the San Diego Operation Area, and administers federal Urban Area Security Initiative (UASl) grant funds; and WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Police Department has been allocated funds through the Fiscal Year 2011 Urban Area Security Initiative (UASl) Grant Program to purchase mobile radios for five vehicles. 13 14 15 16 17 18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Coundl of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows that: 1. The above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the purchases of the mobile radios as specified are authorized in compliance 20 21 22 23 with the grant. 24 3. That the City Manager of the City of Carlsbad or his designee is hereby authorized 25 and directed to accept said award from the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASl) for 26 receipt ofthe subject grant funds, as well as any required reports and/or fmal 27 statements. 28 " 4. That the Administrative Services Director is authorized to appropriate $26,000 to the Public Safety Grants Special Revenue Fund for the Fiscal Year 2011 Urban Area Security Initiative (UASl) Grant Program purchases. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting ofthe City Coundl ofthe City of Carlsbad on the 8th day of October, 2013, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Council Members Hall, Wood, Blackburn, Douglas. 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 NOES: None.
