RESOLUTION NO. 1692
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, OPPOSING EXPANSION OF PALOMAR AIRPORT.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad does hereby resolve
as follows:
1. That Palomar Airport is located within the County of
San Diego and within the ultimate city limits of the
City of Carlsbad;
That the use made of said airport by various types of
aircraft have a substantial effect upon the quality
of life within the City of Carlsbad;
2.
3. That the use of large and noisy planes at said airport
would have a very deleterious effect on the said quality
of life in the City of Carlsbad and on property values
within the city.
4. That such intensive use of said airport by planes creat-
ing a high noise level would create a threat of accident
and injury to persons and property within the city limits
of the City of Carlsbad;
That such a use of said airport would greatly overburden
the roads and other public facilities of the city of
Carlsbad, which are unsuited to provide adequate service
to such a facility;
That the City Council of the City of Carlsbad does
hereby state it's unalterable opposition to the expan&
sion of Palomar Airport in any way to accommodate
medium and long range transports or other aircraft of
similar size and noise production capabilities;
5.
6.
7. That the world can no longer afford to ignore ecological
ethics. The ethical system under which we operated in
the past was possibly adequate for an uncrowded world.
