Dear Mr. Wayne,
I'm writing ta alleviate any mncems with the respect to our small trucking need. Our
operation is a very clean and simple one. We have only 4 large truck deliveries of raw
materials per month. As you know, Smith & Nephew Donjoy is a manufacturer of small
ath1eti.c braces used for instance in the recovery period of a knee operation. The small
packages ate typically shipped via U.P.S,, the common brown trucks that visit almost all
businesses daily. The truck need, is a small one whereby we will utilize only the first truck
bay near &ids 10 & G for raw materials and the truck bay near grids 4 &G for the U.P.S.
pick xp. The remaining truck doors will not be utilized for trucking, but will be utilized
for light and ventilation to the manufacturing area. Please note that this area has
permanent manufacturing equipment hooked up with ekctrical and compressed air etc.
You are welcome to look at our eldsting operation at the Campus at Carlsbad Research
Center. Please nate that no dock high doors exist there. The additional burden of
expense of altering any truck areas will be a major detriment to the budget. It is cost
prohibitive, especially when one looks at our manufacturing layout and understands our
simple needs. Also, please note that the parking provided at the Carlsbad Oaks Project
far exceeds the number of employees we have at full operation. Please call if I can give
