3. DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
Project Name: SP 298-01 Carlsbad Xnn, 3001 Cariabad Boulevard
Please provide a compiete description ofthe project proposed for approval underthis application. Provide
any details necessary to adequately explain the scope and/or operation ofthe proposed project. You may
attach additionai page$ to this application if necessary to explain the project:
Pacific Bell Mobile Services proposes to locate a Personal Communicatio^s Service
(PCS) facility at the Carlsbad Inn, located at 3001 Carlsbad Boulevard, in the City of
Carlsbad, Assessor's Parcel Number 203-252-04. The proposed facility will consist of
six panel antennas, facade mounted in groups of two on the building, and one radio
equipment cabinet (BTS unit) to be mounted on the rooftop. The approximate equipment
dimensions are as follows:

4 1/2 feet wide

Two antennas will be placed vertically on the face of an existmg chimney on the north
side of the building; two are to be placed on an existing chimney on the south side ofthe
building; and two are to be located on an existing chimney in middle of the roof
All antennas are to be painted to match the existing brick and stone materials on which
tliey are to be mounted. The BTS Unit will be roof mounted, and will not be visible from
the ground. Included with this application are photo-simulations of different views of the
building with the proposed antennas superimposed. Aiso included is a photo of an actual
Pacific Beil Mobile Services facihty in Del Mar, where a similar design was used.
No grading, removal of landscaping, or use of existing parking area is proposed with this
project. In addition, the proposed wireless communication facility will not require any
sewer, water, or school services.

In the process of reviewing this application it may be necessary for members of City Staff. Design Review
Board Members, or City Council membera to inspect and enter the property that is the subject of this

No signage shall be permitted for the applicant on the subject building. The applicant has received
approval to install the PCS Faciiity (and related improvements) only at 3001 Carlsbad Boulevard.
The applicant shall obtain all appropriate building permits prior to installation of the subject PCS
facilities at 3001 Carlsbad Boulevard.
This permit shall be subject to revocation if the applicant fails to conform to any of the above
conditions of approval.
