The contractor is responsible for Installation of all signing and striping. All signing, striping and pavement markings shall conform to the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (Latest Version), The Caltrans Standard Specifications (2006 or latest version thereof), these plans and the Special Provisions. All signing and striping Is subject to the approval of the Transportation Director or his representative, prior to installation. Any deviation from these signing and striping plans shall be approved by the Engineer of Work and Transportation Director prior to any change In the field. All striping shall be reflective per Calfrans specification. Striping shall be repainted two weeks after Initial painting. Sign panels for the non illuminated street name signs shall be fabricated using prismatic lens sheeting (Diamond-grade or equivalent) and shall not exceed 6' (width) and 18" (height) unless otherwise approved. Lettering on street name signs shall be 8" upper case and 6" lower case in clearview font. 12. The contractor shall be responsible for the layout and installation of loop detectors, traffic striping, pavement markings and legends, parking removal and traffic signing shown on these plans. All traffic stripin\l and markings within on 500 foot perimeter of construction project shall be restored to a like new" condition, in o manner meeting the approval of the City inspector. 13. The contractor shall obtain approval of the Transportation Director or his representative for the loop detector locations prior to cutting and the locations of the striping, pavement markings and legends, parking removal and signing prior to painting and installation. 14. The contractor shall be responsible for the removal of ail conflicting striping and pavement markings by grinding. 15. The contractor shall not erect any signal standard more than two weeks prior to the scheduled traffic signal turn-on unless approved by the Transportation Director or his representative. 16. Flashing signal operation shall be red on oil phases. Pedestrian signals shall be blank during flashing operations. 17. All traffic signal improvements shall be installed in coordination with the signing and striping contractor. 18. The contractor shall be responsible for any monumentation and/or benchmarks which are disturbed or destroyed by construction. Such points shall be referenced and replaced with appropriate monumentation by a licensed land surveyor or registered civil engineer authorized to practice land surveying. A corner record or record of survey, as appropriate, shall be filed by the licensed land surveyor or registered civil engineer as required by the Land Surveyor's Act. 19. Limit lines and crosswalks shall be field located. 20. Testing of control equipment and cabinet wiring shall be accomplished at a facility designated by the City of Carlsbad. The contractor shall deliver and pick-up equipment. 21. The conductor schedule is furnished as on installation guide only.
