Presented herein is our response to Michael Baker Intemational's (MBI's) review of the
retaining wall calculations dated June 4, 2019. MBI's comments were dated June 24, 2019.
MBI's comments were provided as redline comments on the submitted retaining wall calculation
sheets for the proposed stem wall (Detail 4 Stem Wall, GR 2019-0011, DWG 517-2A) and
proposed modified curb (Detail 5 Modified Curb, GR 2019-0011, DWG 517-2A). Comments
provided for both sets of calculations were "Update geotechnical report for CBC 2016.
Coordinate calcs with Geotech recommendations as applicable".
CTE is submitting a response to City of Carlsbad comments (CTE August 23, 2019)

concurrently with this response letter. The aforementioned CTE response letter included a review
of the previously issued geotechnical report (CTE, 2016) which concluded "the information
provided remains applicable and is considered to be consistent with recommendations of the
2016 California Building Code." Therefore, the previously provided retaining wall calculations
should be considered consistent with CBC 2016, and no update necessary.
