IF CAVING OCCURS, CASING OR OTHER ALTERNATE DRILLING METHODS MAY BE USED AS AUTHORIZED BY THE SHORING ENGINEER. 7. INSERT THE TIEBACK TENDONS INTO THE DRILLED SHAFTS WHILE TAKING MEASURES TO ENSURE THAT THE TENDONS ARE CENTERED (I.E. BY THE USE OF CENTRALIZING DEVICES) IN THE ANCHOR SHAFT. EACH ANCHOR SHALL BE TESTED TO THE TEST LOADS SHOWN HEREIN. TEN PERCENT OF THE ANCHORS SHALL BE PERFORMANCE TESTED BY CYCLING THE LOAD IN INCREASING INCREMENTS OF 25% OF THE MAXIMUM TEST LOAD. 2. THE FIRST ANCHOR LOAD TEST SHALL BE MAINTAINED AT THE PEAK TEST LOAD FOR A MINIMUM OF ONE HOUR AND THE CREEP DEFORMATION BETWEEN THE SIX MINUTE AND SIXlY MINUTE READINGS SHALL BE LESS THAN ONE TENTH OF AN INCH. 3. PROOF TESTING OF THE ANCHORS SHALL BE PERFORMED BY INCREASING THE LOAD IN 25% INCREMENTS UNTIL THE MAXIMUM TEST LOAD IS REACHED. 4. AN ANCHOR IS DEEMED SATISFACTORY WHEN THE ANCHOR ROD OR STRANDS DO NOT MOVE MORE THAN TWELVE (12) INCHES, AFTER INITIAL SETTING, DURING THE APPLICATION OF THE TEST LOAD. AT TEST LOAD, THE ANCHOR MOVEMENT SHALL NOT EXCEED 1 /8" DURING A TEN (10) MINUTE PERIOD. 5. IN THE EVENT OF A FAILURE OF AN ANCHOR TO ACHIEVE THE TEST LOAD, THE ULTIMATE LOAD SHALL BE RECORDED. THIS ANCHOR WILL THEN BE ASSIGNED A LOAD DETERMINED BY THE SHORING ENGINEER AND LOCKED OFF AT THIS LOAD. AN EXTRA ANCHOR WILL BE INSTALLED AT A LOCATION AN ANGLE DETERMINED BY THE SHORING ENGINEER. THE ADDITIONAL ANCHOR SHALL ATTAIN THE BALANCE OF THE REQUIRED LOAD AND BE TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ITEM 2 ABOVE. 6. HIGH STRENGTH WIRE STRANDS WITH A MINIMUM ULTIMATE STRENGTH OF 270,DOO PSI AND 0.6 INCH DIAMETER (58.8 KIPS ULTIMATE LOAD EACH STRAND) SUCH AS DYWIDAG, LANG OR EQUAL. 4. LAGGING: IF SOIL CONDITIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS MERIT, LAGGING MAY BE OMITTED IN CERTAIN AREAS AS DIRECTED BY THE SHORING ENGINEER. CONCRETE WITH A MINIMUM COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF 3000 PSI AT 28 DAYS. IT MAY CONTAIN AN ADDITIVE TO CONTROL SHRINKAGE, SUCH AS INTRAPLAST-N BY SIKA CORP., AND SHALL HAVE SUFFICIENT STRENGTH TO INSURE LOAD TRANSFER BETWEEN THE ANCHOR TENDON AND THE SOIL. 6.
