PLANTING
I. Container grown plants to be planted in plant pits (2) times wider than plant
· containers and a depth of (1-1/2) times the height of plant containers. Unless noted
otherwise, plant crown to be slightly higher than its natural growing height after
settlement. ~
2. All plants shall be watered immediately before backfilling planting pits.
3. All areas receiving plants shall be moist to a depth of 6" at time of planting.
4. Use 'Agriform', 20-10-5:21 gram tablets per manufacturer's specifications, with
all shrubs and trees. 1 per liner or I gallon, 2 per 5 gallon, 3 per 15 gallon and 4 per foot
of box width.
5. Provide (1) 'Agriform' 20-I0-5 fertilizer tablet with each flatted plant -5 gram
size.
6. Plant all plants 5' minimum from irrigation heads (slopes only).
7. Scarify the sides of each root ball prior to planting if circular root growth is
evident.
8. Plant quantities on the plant list are for the contractor's convenience and not
guaranteed to be accurate.
9. Plan symbols take precedence over quantities specified.
10. Soil test required to determine soil amendments, fertilizer, and backfill. The City
of Carlsbad Inspector shall approve soil test recommendations.
11. All landscaping shall be constructed according to these approved plans, and all
landscape areas shall be maintained in a healthy and thriving condition, free from weeds,
trash, and debris.
SOIL PREPARATION
I. The following shall be applied per 1,000 sq. ft. of planting ~rea and tilled into the
soil to a depth of6": (excluding slopes)

4. All reduced pressure backflow preventers shall be tested after installation
relocation, or repairs by a City approved certified tester. Call 438-2722 ext. 152
for a list of City approved certified testers. Developer/owner is responsible for
snpplying a copy of the test results to CMWD at 5950 El Camino Real.
5. Low head drainage is not permitted. Add check valves as needed to prevent
Jow head drainage.
6. Popups must be used within 10 feet of all pedestrian uses.
7. The Contractor is responsible for obtaining building and plumbing permits
prior to commencing on any wall construction and irrigation installation. respectively. ASSIST
