This provides sprinkler operation approximately six times faster than ordinary sprinklers. While the Quick Response Sprinkler provides an aesthetically pleasing appear- ance, it can be installed wherever standard spray sprinklers are specified when allowed by the applicable standards. It offers the additional fdture of greatly increased safety to life and is available in various styles, orifices, temperature ratings and finishes to meet many varying design requirements. Quick Response Sprinklers should be used advisedly and under the direction of approving authorities having jurisdiction. The heart of Globe's Model JN sprinkler proven actuating assembly is a hermetically sealed frangible glass ampule that contains a precisely measurd amount of fluid. When heat is absorbed, the liquid within the bulb expands increasing the internal pressure. At the prescribed temperature the internal pressure within the ampule exceeds the strength of the glass causing the glass to shatter. This results in water discharge which is distributed in an approved pattern depending upon the deflector style used. Application and Installation The LifeSaver Model F1/RES CCP Concealed Resi- dential Sprinkler uses the 155°F Model F1/RES 18 Pen- dent Residential Sprinkler with a threaded Model CCP cup which is factory attached to the sprinkler. A protec- tive cap is provided. The assembly is completed by the installation of the attractive, low profile, 135°F rated Model CCP push on cover plate assembly. The cover plate and sprinkler cup assemblies are joined using flexible tabs having a strong threaded engagement. A choice of two cover plate assemblies provides either Yl' or Y1.11 of cover adjustment. The cover plate is attached to the skirt using 135°F ordinary temperature classification fusible alloy. When the ceiling temperature rises, the solder at- taching the cover plate and skirt fuses, thus releasing the Cover plate and exposing the sprinkler to the rising ceil- ing temperature. Continued increases in air temperature cause sprinkler bulb operation, which opens the water- way and allows the discharging water to be distributed in a hemispherical pattern below the sprinkler deflector. Following installation, any secure engagement of the cover plate assembly and cup assures that the sprinkler deflector is properly positioned relative to the ceiling. The LifeSaver Model F1/RES CCP Concealed Sprinkler must be installed in ceilings with a neutral or negative pressure in the plenum space above the sprinkler. After installation, inspect all sprinklers to ensure that both the gap between the cover plate and skirt and the cup slots are open and free from arty air flow impedi- ment. Apply a Teflon* based thread sealantto the sprinkler threads only. After the protective cap is removed, the Model RC1 Wrench is then used to engage the sprinkler wrenching surfaces and to install the sprinkler in the fit- ting. A 2%"diameter hole cut into the ceiling allows sprin- kler installation and is properly covered by the cover plate. Push the cover plate assembly by hand into the cup. Final adjustment, if required, is made by turning the cover plate until the flange is in contact with the ceiling surface. The Model F1/RES CCP Concealed Sprinkler is only to be installed with a 135°F rated Model CCP Con- cealed cover plate assembly. Concealed cover plate/cup assemblies are listed only for use with specific sprinklers. The use of any other con- cealed cover plate/cup assembly with the Model F1/RES 18 Sprinkler or the use of the Model CCP Con- cealed cover plate assembly on any sprinkler with which it is not specifically listed may prevent good fire protec- tion and will void all guarantees, warranties, listings and approvals.
