HomeMy WebLinkAboutDWG 436-8L; SDP 05-01; GARFIELD PROJECT; 01-07PLANTING NOTES 1. Slope all planting areas away from buildings @ 2% minimum for 5 feet, where applicable. 2. Finished grade adjacent ta paving shall be 2" below paving in planting areas and 1• below finished paving for lawn areas. 3. Plant symbols take precedence over plant quantities specified. 4. All Plants shall be protected against heat, sun, wind, and frost during transportation to the site & while being held at the site. Plants shall not be stored in total darkness for more than 1 day. 5. Plant material may be rejected at any time by landscape designer due ta condition, form, and/or damage before planting. 6. Landscape designer shall approve final placement of all plant material prior to planting. 7. All shrubs shall be bushy and full to the ground, unless otherwise noted in the planting legend or on planting plan. 8. Crown of plants shall be planted slightly higher than adjacent soil. 9. All vines and espaliers shall have their temporary slakes and/or trellises removed after planting. Stems shall be attached to adjacent vertical surfaces. 10. All Camellias, Azaleas, and Gardenias (if any) shall be planted in a special backfill mix of 50% native soil and 50 % peat moss. 11. All P.lanting areas not planted with living ground caver shall receive 3" of "walk-on" type fir bark or 'Red Cedar Shavings". 12. Slow release 20-10-5 21 gram fertilizer tablets shall be placed in planting pits within the TOP 3" of lhe backfill at the following rate: 1 gallon/ 1 tablet; 5 gallon/ 2 tablets; 15 gallon/ 3 tablets; box sizes/ 2 tablets per lineal fool of box size on applicable sizes. 13. At the time of final walk through with landscape designer, contractor shall fertilize all planting areas with scatter on, slow release fertilizer with nitrogen rating of 16 or higher containing iron. Irrigation --An irrigation system shall be provided as required for proper watering, development, and maintenance for the plants selected. The design of the system shall provide adequate support for the plants selected. Maintenance --All required landscape areas shall be maintained by the owner. The landscape areas shall be maintained free of debris and litter, and all plant material shall be maintained in a healthy growing condition. Diseased or dead plants material shall be satisfactorily treated or replaced. Root barriers shall be installed at all trees within 5' of paved surfaces and walls. Mulch --A minimum of 3" of organic mulch shall be added in non-turf planting areas with slopes less steep than 3: 1 to cover the soil surface completely.
