Dyna-Thread sprinkler pipe represents an engineering advancement for the sprinkler pipe industry. It combines the safety and longevity of traditional Sch40 pipe with quality and superior hydraulic advantages. S Dyna-Thread's inside diameter is up to 3.6% larger than Sch-40 giving it superior hydraulics. And, when used in combination with Dyna-Flow pipe, down sizing often occurs. Dyna-Thread is fully listed and approved by UL, ULC, and FM for fire sprinkler applications. The life expectancy of Dyna-Thread and Sch40 are equal based on the calculated wall thicknesses per UL. The consistent quality of steel used to make Dyna-Thread facilitates smooth threading and lower maintenance costs. The exterior of Dyna-Thread is protected by a clean, durable mill coating for extended shelf life and easy paint application. 0 <~> @ Listed Approved Listed With its increased strength and lighter weight, Dyna-Thread reduces installation fatigue and is ideal for retro-fit applications. Corrosion Resistance Ratio (CRR) is a UL (Underwriters Laboratory) term for the estimated life expectancy of a pipe joint. This is based on the calculated wall thickness at the base of the first exposed thread, assumed to be the weakest point of the pipe length. Dyna- Thread and Sch-40 have the same calculated wall thicknesses at this point and are both assigned the same CRR of 1.00. The internal surface of all black Allied Tube & Conduit Fire Sprinkler pipe products up to 4.5000" in diameter is coated with our new Antibacterial Formula, "ABF". In scientific laboratory test, ABS proved to have superior resistance to microbial colonization of pipe walls, thereby delaying or possibly preventing the onset of Microbiologically Influenced corrosion (MIC) when the First Sprinkler System is first installed. More wall thickness at the thread (CRR= 1.00) gives Dyna-Thread better life expectancy than lightwall threadable pipe joints. Unlike lightwall threadable pipe, Dyna-Thread has no thread gauge warning. Dyna-Thread is approved for standard hanger spacing (15 ft. O.C.), can be used as earthquake sway bracing, and is safe to use as drops. Dyna-Thread is safer to weld on. Dyna-Thread is more widely accepted than lightwall threadable where Sch-40 is specified. Super 40IDyna-Thread pipe is manufactured to meet: ASTM A-135, Grade A and is in compliance with NFPA-13. All sizes of Super 40fDyna- Thread are rated at 300 psi working pressure. Super 40/Dyna-Thread is UL and ULC Listed for wet, dry deluge and pre-action sprinkler systems and FM Approved for use in wet systems. Super 40fDyna-Thread can be "hot-dip" galvanized to meet FM requirement for dry systems. Super 40/Dyna-Thread is approved for all threaded couplings and welded outlets and is suitable for all roll-grooved, and plain-end fittings. (See listing information). They are stronger and more corrosion resistant than cast iron fittings. The additional strength is provided by the ductile properties and by adding mag- nesium while the iron is being poured into the final cast shape. Although lighter than standard cast iron, the fit- tings have an added advantage of be- ing less susceptible to cracking due to their added strength. The Series 800, California, and Figure 719 Threaded Pipe Fittings are a re- designation for the Central Series 800, California, and Figure 719 Threaded Pipe Fittings. WARNINGS The Threaded Pipe Fittings described herein must be installed and main- tained in compliance with this docu- ment, as well as with the applicable standards of the National Fire Pro- tection Association, in addition to the standards of any other authorities hav- ing jurisdiction. Failure to do so may impair the performance of these devices. The owner is responsible for maintain- ing their fire protection system and de- vices in proper operating condition. The installing contractor or sprinkler manufacturer should be contacted with any questions. NOTE Installers who have not used ductile iron threaded fittings should be in- structed that the fittings are stron- ger than the pipe and overtightening the fitting can create leaks and cause damage to pipe threads. In general, there Is about one-half turn difference between cast iron and ductile iron fit- tings. Apply Teflon tape or high qual- ity pipe joint compound on the male pipe threads and tighten two to three turns beyond hand tight. If an auto- matic make-on machine is being used, please exercise caution in setting the machine to the proper parameters pri- or to tightening fittings onto the male pipe threads. Whether installed on exposed piping or in an office ceil- ing, it is functional and attractive. Beautifully versatile is the description for the Reliable Models F156, F142, F1XLH & F128 Series Recessed glass bulb sprinkler. Recessing the F156, F142, F1XLH & F128 Series enhances its already low profile decorative appearance, and facilitates a rapid and perfect installa- tion. The recessed escutcheon of the Models F156, F142, F1XLH & F128 are highly adjustable. The two piece con- struction makes field installation a very easy and rapid task. This also allows ceiling panels to later be removed without shutting down the fire protection system, thus fa- cilitating maintenance of above ceiling services. The F156, F142, F1XLH & F128 Series Automatic Sprin- kler utilizes a 5.0 mm frangible glass bulb. The glass bulb consists of an accurately controlled amount of special fluid hermetically sealed inside a precisely manufactured glass capsule. This glass bulb is specially constructed to provide fast thermal response. At normal temperatures, the glass bulb contains the fluid in both the liquid phase and in the vapor phase. The vapor phase can be seen as a small bubble. As heat is applied, the liquid expands forcing the bubble smaller and smaller as the liquid pressure increases. Continued heating forces the liquid to push out against the bulb, causing the glass to shatter, opening the waterway and allowing the deflector to distribute the discharging water. The F156, F142, F1XLH & F128 Series Sprinkler tem- perature rating is identified by the color of the glass bulb capsule as well as frame color where applicable. Application The Reliable Model G5-80, G5-56, G5-42 and G5-28 are the most versatile quick response concealed sprinklers avail- able. It provides the best form of fire protection while offering an attractive appearance and 3/4" (19mm) of cover adjust- ment for ease of installation. The small diameter cover plate assembly is easily attached and blends into the ceiling, con- cealing the most dependable fire protection available, an au- tomatic sprinkler system. Plain Cover Plate ii. Perforated Cover Plate The Model G5-80, G5-56, G5-42 and G5-28 are designed for use where aesthetic appearance is important. Offices, hos- pitals, motels and restaurants are but a few of the applications where it can be used. The Model G5-80, G5-56, G5-42 and G5-28 are UL Listed Quick Response Concealed sprinklers intended for use in accordance with NFPA 13. FM Approves the G5-56 and the G5-28 sprinkler as a standard response concealed sprinkler intended for use in accordance with FM Loss Prevention Data Sheet 2.0. Product Description The Reliable Model G5-80, G5-56, G542 and G5-28 uses a proven quick response fusible element in a standard style sprinkler frame with a drop-down deflector. This assembly is recessed into the ceiling and concealed by a flat cover plate assembly. The threaded engagement provides 3/4" (19mm) of cover adjustment. The flat cover plate is attached to the skirt using either 135°F (57°C) or 165°F (74°C) ordinary tempera- ture classification solder. When the ceiling temperature rises, the solder holding the flat cover plate melts, the flat cover plate released thus expos- ing the sprinkler inside to the rising ambient temperature. The subsequent fusing of the element opens the waterway and causes the deflector to distribute the water. Any secure engagement between the cover plate and cup will assure that the drop-down deflector is properly located below the ceiling. Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Co., Inc., 103 Fairview Park Drive, Elmsford, New York 10523 Model FC Sprinkler Wrench UL Listing Category Sprinklers, Automatic and Open Quick Response Sprinkler UL Guide Number VNIV Installation S Do not install the G5-80, G5-56, G5-42 and G5-28 in ceilings which have positive pressure in the space above. Cut a 2 /8" inch (67mm) diameter hole is cut in the ceiling, the sprinkler is easily installed with the Model FC Wrench. The wrench has a socket drive which is inserted into the body of the sprinkler. When installing a sprinkler the wrench is first positioned into the sprinkler/cup assembly until the wrench socket engages the body of the sprinkler. The sprinkler is then tightened into the pipe fitting. When inserting or remov- ing the wrench from the sprinkler/cup assembly care should be taken to prevent damage to the sprinkler. DO NOT WRENCH ON ANY OTHER PART OF THE SPRINKLER/ CUP ASSEMBLY. Install the cover plate by hand turning the cover in the clockwise direcon until it is tight against the ceil- ing. A protective cap is provided to protect the drop-down sprinkler deflector from damage which could occur during construction before the cover plate is installed. The cap is factory installed inside the sprinkler cup. Remove cap to install sprinkler, then re- install cap until the cover plate is installed. Maintenance The Model G5-80, G5-56, G5-42 and G5-28 should be in- spected and the sprinkler system maintained in accordance with NFPA 25. Do not clean sprinklers with soap and water, am- monia or any other cleaning fluids. Remove any sprinkler that has been painted (other than factory applied) or damaged in S any way. Concealed sprinklers cover plates can not be painted in the field, after installation or have any other coating applied other than the factory finish. A stock of spare sprinklers should be maintained to allow quick replacement of damaged or oper- ated sprinklers.
