The extent of this review is limited to the plan check comment (#10) which states "Sprinkler systems that contain pipes 4" or larger shall be reviewed by a California licensed structural or civil engineer. They shall certify that the loads imposed at the point of connection on the ceiling by the sprinkler system design are in full compliance with the loading requirements as specified in Chapter 16 of the 2016 California Building Code." The loads stated on the sheets provided to 1121-1 Horrocks by Superior Fire, Inc (sheet FS-4) were found to be in general compliance with the 2016 California Building Code (CBC). Section 903.3.1 of the CBC permits the fire sprinkler system to be designed and installed per NFPA 13. The loads outlined in NFPA 13 appear to be equal or greater to the loads that would be required if the system was designed using Chapter 16 of the CBC. 1121-1 Horrocks did not perform a full structural analysis of the system provided. Adequacy of connections and capacity of the system was not analyzed as part of this review.
