TAILINGS: TERRACE: TOPSOIL: WINDROW: 4468001 TYPICAL EARTHWORK GUIDELINES.doc Naturally occurring deposits of sand, silt, clay, etc., or com- binations thereof. A fill mass, the configuration of which is typically related to slope height and is specified by the standards of practice for enhancing the stability of locally adverse conditions. A minimum stabilization fill is normally specified byminimurn . key width and depth and by maximum backcut angle. A sta- bilization fill may or may not have a back drainage system specified. Generally a pipe-and-gravel or similar drainage system placed beneath a fill along the aligrunent of buried canyons or former drainage channels . Non-engineered fill which accumulates on or adjacent to equipment haul roads. A relatively level bench constructed on the face of a graded slope surface for drainage control and maintenance purposes. The upper zone of soil or bedrock materials, which is usually dark in color, loose, and contains organic materials. A row of large rocks buried within engineered fill in accor- dance with guidelines set forth by the geotechnical consultant. 19 l(ln90&1(\oo~e Rev. ~/02
