A RESOLUTION OF THE HOUSING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, NOMINATING TWO HOUSING COMMISSIONERS TO SERVE ON
THE GROWTH MANAGEMENT UPDATE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (ONE
COMMISSIONER TO SERVE AS A PRIMARY COMMITTEE MEMBER AND ONE
COMMISSIONER TO SERVE AS AN ALTERNATE MEMBER).
WHEREAS, a City Council goal for fiscal year 2021-2022 is to "engage the
community through a citizens committee to create a new plan to manage growth in
Carlsbad in a way that maintains an excellent quality of life"; and
WHEREAS, a citizens advisory committee is a critical part of creating a new
growth management plan; and
WHEREAS, on Sept. 28, 2021, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2021-223
approving a charter for the Growth Management Plan Update Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, the city's existing commissions address topics that affect quality of
life; therefore, members of each commission/board will participate on the committee;
and
WHEREAS, the Housing Commission has nominated two Housing
Commissioner's to serve on the Growth Management Plan Update Advisory Committee
(one commissioner to serve as a primary committee member and one commissioner to
serve as an alternate member); and
WHEREAS, to ensure the commissioner's availability throughout the
committee's duration, the nominated commissioners have at least 18 months remaining
on his or her term; and
WHEREAS, the Housing Commission's nomination will be considered and
confirmed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOVED by the Housing Commission of the
City of Carlsbad, as follows:
A) That the above recitations are true and correct.
B) That the following Housing Commissioners are hereby nominated to serve on
the Growth Management Plan Update Advisory Committee for a term of approximately
12 months from time of City Council appointment:
1) John Nguyen-Cleary (primary committee member)
2) Al Manzano (alternate committee member)
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Housing Commission of
the City of Carlsbad, California, held on Nov. 18, 2021, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: EVANS, MANZANO, CORTESS-TORRES, NGUYEN CLEARY
NAYS: NONE
ABSENT: COLE
