Review and approve an update of the Art Commission’s workplan for FY 2021-22
Executive Summary
In 2018, the City Council revised the Carlsbad Municipal Code Section 2.15.020 (C) to create
uniform policies and procedures related to boards and commissions, requiring each board or
commission to provide the City Council, for its approval, an annual work plan of activities to be
undertaken. The purpose of the work plan is to encourage increased dialogue between the
commission and the City Council. The intent is to ensure that each commission is working in line
with the priorities of the City Council.
Discussion
Each year, the Arts Commission reviews and updates its workplan. Arts Commissioners are
asked to provide input on the suggested edits by staff and then approve the workplan. This
year, the focus of suggested edits includes the Arts Commission’s ordinances and initiatives in
the Arts & Culture Master Plan, as well as exploring opportunities to better engage the
community.
Fiscal Analysis
There is no anticipated fiscal impact at this time.
Next Steps
The Arts Commission FY 2021-22 proposed work plan will be presented to city council for
approval.
