CALL TO ORDER
Chair Rangus called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
ACTION: On motion Vice Chair Mehan and a second by Commissioner Ross, the minutes of the Jan. 7, 2022
Senior Commission meeting were approved.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS
The commission received a report on recently completed and upcoming Senior Center activities and
programs, as well as other topics of interest by Recreation Area Manager Margaret Hamer.
Ms. Hamer reported the Senior Commission Work Plan was approved on Jan. 6, 2022 and the Senior
Commission updated their annual work plan to support the Age-Friendly Action Plan which was approved
by city council in December 2021. The work plan was presented to city council on Feb. 8, 2022 with
comments shared by Chair Rangus. The plan was approved unanimously by City Council.
Ms. Hamer reported staff attended an Age-Friendly roundtable meeting representing North County and The
Carlsbad Action Plan. The county also presented and invited monthly input in different areas.
Ms. Hamer reported during the pandemic transportation ended and customers who were previously bused
to the center for lunch and now have lunch delivered to their homes are counted for transportation as
defined by the County of San Diego grant reimbursement. Transportation is slowly returning but is impacted
due to the lack of shuttle drivers and volunteers. Shuttle service is offered on Wednesday only.
Commissioner Ross expressed interest in volunteering to deliver home meals.

On motion by Chair Rangus duly seconded by Commissioner Mehan the meeting was adjourned at
4:22p.m. The next meeting of the Senior Commission will be April 3, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.
