Recommended Action
Discuss and make a recommendation for 3rd grade art program and options for 2022.
Executive Summary/Discussion
Annually, the Historic Preservation Commission partners with third grade classes in Carlsbad
schools to encourage students’ learning about historic sites in the city as a component of the
State of California curriculum. Commissioners will discuss the 2022 annual participation.
Options include:
• Participate in traditional in-person program.
• Participate in a hybrid model.
• Wait another year for participation due to COVID-19 uncertainty.
• Other options based on commission discussion.
Next Steps
Contact schools to inform them of the 2022 program guidance.
Fiscal Analysis
The costs associated with this program were budgeted in the Library & Cultural Arts
Department fiscal year 2021-22 operating budget.
