This memorandum provides information related to the 2022 season of the TGIF Concerts in the
Parks and extends an invitation to City Council members to attend and participate in an onstage
opportunity at the concerts.
Background
After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this marks the 35th season of the TGIF
Concerts in the Parks which should offer the Carlsbad community memorable summer
evenings, enjoying a variety of music and the company of friends and neighbors. The city has
four parks in the lineup this year with ten bands at nine concerts. The gates to the ball fields will
open to the public at 4 p.m., which ensures safety in the morning while staff are setting up the
stage and sound equipment and protects the grass which can be damaged under blankets
sitting in the sun.
Discussion
City Council members are invited to participate on a Friday evening during the summer, to
welcome the audience and introduce the evening's band. Concerts start at 6 p.m. A parking
spot will be reserved and information about the bands will be provided ahead of time. All City
Council members will receive parking passes for the season. Below is the 2022 TGIF Concerts in
the Parks schedule:

o July 1-The Corvelles
• Poinsettia Community Park (District 3)
o July 8-The Mighty Untouchables
o July 15 -Phat Cat Swinger
o July 22 -High Tide Society

Next Steps
As in the past, staff will coordinate the logistics for introduction of the bands through Andrea
Dykes, Executive Assistant to the City Council. City Council members will receive a copy of the
TGIF Concerts in the Parks informational program upon its release. If City Council members
need further information or have any questions, please contact Richard Schultz, Cultural Arts
Manager. Staff look forward to welcoming City Council members and are pleased to kick off the
2022 season of TGIF Concerts in the Parks in the City of Carlsbad.
