(CTE) provides the following addendum information to our referenced geotechnical report. CTE has reviewed the referenced retaining wall plans. CTE finds the plans to be in general conformance with the referenced geotechnical documents, with the following exceptions noted below. Additionally, this addendum letter is intended to address redline comments from the City of Carlsbad, provided to CTE by the client. On Plan Sheet 1, 2.0 Reference Documentation, Note 2, the job number should be changed to 10-13064G. Additionally, CTE's Geotechnical Investigation referenced above (CTE, May 2016) should be added to the documentation notes. Plan Sheet 1, 6.0 Material Notes, Note 5 requires that reinforced fill soils exhibit zero to 35 percent passing the No. 200 sieve. Please note that onsite soils were field classified as It silty and clayey sands. However, this sample may not be representative of all site soils, and therefore, and as noted in the soil design parameters worksheet provided by the client and filled out by CTE (CTE, July 2016), select grading should be anticipated, at a minimum. Pending additional laboratory testing of specific soils intended for use as reinforced zone backfill, import of appropriate soils may be necessary. A City of Carlsbad redline copy of CTE's Figure 2 Exploration Location/Geologic Map (CTE, May 2016) was provided to CTE, requesting revision of the figure to show the proposed access path/road ascending the slope to the south of the building pad. Please see the attached revised Figure 2 showing the proposed access path/road ascending the slope to the south of the building pad. A City of Carlsbad redline copy of CTE's Figure 4 Retaining Wall Drainage Detail (CTE, May 2016) was provided to CTE, requesting revision of the figure to apply to segmental walls. Referenced Plan Sheet 4, Detail G.4 details appropriate typical wall drainage design, and should be used in lieu of CTE's aforementioned Figure 4. Additional drainage devices may also be recommended based on conditions encountered during construction. This letter is subject to the same limitations as provided in CTE's other geotechnical documents issued for this project. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service on this project.
