(2017), "Geotechnical Assessment of Rear Yard Retaining Walls, Manea Residence, Lot 52, 7298 Sitio Lima, Carlsbad, California," Report No. 170106-01, dated January 10. Dear Ms. Tyler: In accordance with your request, SCST, Inc. reviewed the referenced improvements plans for the rear, yard of the subject property. Our referenced report reviewed the existing conditions and recommended a properly designed and constructed retaining wall configuration similar to that existing would provide a slope stability condition considered similar or more favorable than the 2013 as-graded slope. In our opinion, the plans are prepared in accordance with the recommendation of our referenced geotechnical report and, as designed, are the minimum necessary improvements to stabilize the slope. If segmental reinforced earth walls are selected, the backfill should consist of granular fill screened of rocks over approximately 1 inch in dimension. The construction should include observations and density testing by the geotechnical representative. If you have any questions, please call us at (619) 280-4321.
