It is mandatory to prevent the reverseflow of fire protection system substances, i.e., glycerin wetting agents, stagnantwater and water of non-potable quality from being pumped or siphoned into the potable water supply. Specifications A Double Check Detector Assembly shall be installed on fire protection systems when connected to a drinkng water supply. Degree of hazard present is determined by the local authority havinç jurisdiction. The main valve body shall be manufactured from 300 Series stainless steel to provide corrosion resistance, 100% lead free* through the waterway. The double check detector assembly consists of two independently operat- ing, spring loaded check valves, two UL, FM, OSY resilient seated gate valves, and bypass assembly. The bypass assembly consists of a meter (cubic ft. or gallons), a double check includiig shutoff valves and required test cocks. Each cam-check shall be internally oaded and provide a positive drip tight closure against reverse flow. Cam-check licluces a stainless steel cam arm and spring, rubber faced disc and a replaceable seat. Thore shall be no brass or bronze parts used within the cam-check valve assembly. The check valve seats shall be of molded thermoplastic construction. The use of seat screws as a retention method is prohibited. All internal parts shall be accessible through a single cover on the valve assembly. The valve cover shall be held in place through the use of a single grooved style two-bolt coupling. The bypass line shall be hydraulicall sized to accurately measure low flow. The bypass line shall con- sist of a meter, a small diameter double check assembly with test cocks and isolation valves. The bypass ine double check valve shall have two independently operating modular poppet check valves, and top mounted test cocks. The assembly shall be an Ames 3000SS. This concealed, designer style sprinkler allows up to ½" (13 mm) adjustment to accommodate conceal- ment needs. The "stan- dard" design provides a consistent hemispherical spray pattern. The sepa- rate two-piece mounting cup/cover plate allows easy installation and testing prior to ceiling installation. It also permits removal of suspended ceiling panels without system shutdown. The cover plate ceiling gasket, designed for use in clean rooms, prevents debris from entering the protected area. The design incorporates state-of-the- art, heat responsive, frangi- ble glass bulb design (stan- dard or quick response) for prompt, precise operation. This sprinkler is available in various temperature ratings (see chart on page 2) and finishes to meet many design requirements. Sprinkler Operation The operating mechanism is a frangible glass bulb which contains a heat responsive liquid. During a fire, the ambient tempera- ture rises causing the liquid in the bulb to expand. When the ambient temper- ature reaches the rated temperature of the sprin- kler, the bulb shatters. As a result, the waterway is cleared of all sealing parts and water is discharged towards the deflector. The deflector is designed to dis- tribute the water in a pat- tern that is most effective in controlling the fire. Coverage For coverage area and sprinkler placement, refer to NFPA 13 standards. The anchor is manufactured from carbon steel and is heat treated. It has a minimum 0.0003 inch (8 pm) zinc coating in accordance with DIN EN ISO 4042. The internally threaded head is larger than the diameter of the anchor and is formed with serrations on the underside. The anchor body is formed with threads running most of the length of the anchor body. The anchor is installed in a predrilled hole with a powered impact wrench or torque wrench. The anchor threads cut into the concrete on the sides of the hole and interlock with the base material during installation. This section contains the Limit State Design tables with unfactored characteristic loads that are based on the published loads in ICC Evaluation Services ESR-3027. Pipefit is suitable for use on all threadable materials commonly used in fire sprinkler systems, including CPVC. Pipefit's unique blend of materials provides superior thread sealing qualities over other similarly priced sealants. The particulate PTFE also helps prevent leaks by accumulating in the voids of damaged or defective threads of the pipe or fittings. Additionally, the lubricating qualities of the PTFE and other materials in the sealing paste improve thread seating during pipe and fitting assembly.
