Revision: 50.52.1 FM Approved and UL Listed Sprinkler Pipe Bull Moose Tube Company is a recognized producer of quality pipe products. Our Schedule 10 and Schedule 40 are FM Approved and UL Listed (for U.S. and Canada), even though these products do not require separate approvals and listings. Bull Moose Tube made the decision to have them approved and listed for your peace of mind. Our Sch. 10 and Sch. 40 have been through the same rigorous testing as our other fine pipe products. Bull Moose Tube's Sch. 10 and Sch. 40 pipes are made to ASTM A135 and ASTM A795. These products are typically supplied with our protective coating but can be supplied without the coating so they can be hot-dip galvanized to meet FM requirements for use in dry systems in accordance with the zinc coating specifications of ASTM A795 or ASTM A53. In order to provide a leak-tight seat for the gasket, pipe surfaces should be free from indentations and projections from the end of the pipe to the groove. All loose paint, scale, dirt, chips, grease, and rust must be removed prior to installation. Failure to take these important steps may result in improper coupling assembly, causing leakage. Also, check the manufacturer's instructions for the specific fitting used. q 1819 Clarkson Road For additional information, Chesterfield, MO 63017 contact your salesperson @UL U S (800) 325-4467 today at (800) 325-4467 or LISTED /4L BULL MOOSE TUBE COMPANY FAX: (636) 537-2645 (636) 537-2600 in the USA, www.bullmoosetube.com or from Canada Acompany e-mail: sa!es(bu11moosetube.com call (800) 882-4666 ______ CflFflRO APPROVED All information contained herein is accurate as known at the time of publication. They are higher in strength and more corrosion resistant than cast iron fittings. The additional strength is provided by the ductile properties making up the fitting. This is accomplished by adding magnesium while the iron is being poured into it final cast shape. This provides an advantage as the fittings are not as susceptible to leaks or cracking and they are also lighter than standard cast iron. Caution: Installers who have not used ductile fran threaded fittings before should be instructed that the fittings are stronger than the pipe and over- tightening the fitting can create leaks and cause damage to pipe threads. In general, there is about one-half turn difference between cast iron and ductile iron fittings. Apply Teflon tape or high quality pipe joint compound on the male pipe threads and tighten two to three turns beyond hand tight. If you are using an automatic make-on machine, please exercise caution in setting your machine to the proper parameters prior to tightening fittings onto the male pipe threads. It provides sprinkler operations approximately six times faster than ordinary sprinklers and can be installed wherever standard concealed spray sprinklers are specified when allowed by the applicable standards. This sprinkler offers the additional feature of greatly in- creased safety to life and should be used advisedly and under the direction of approving authorities having jurisdiction. The sprinkler is available with a nominal 1" of adjustment and a low profile cover plate assembly. All that is seen at the ceiling is a 3 5/16" diameter ceiling plate or an optional 2 3/4" diameter ceiling plate color finished to match the specifier's exact requirements. The GL Series Concealed Sprinkler may be virtually invisible as it does not interrupt the "smooth flow" of the ceiling. Globe's GL5606 Concealed Sprinkler utilizes a 3mm frangible glass ampule which is located above the ceiling and concealed from view by the ceiling plate. The provided protective cap needs to be removed in order to install the sprinkler with the proper wrench. The protective cap must be replaced on the sprinkler until the time the cover plate is to be installed. The "push on - screw off' designed cover plate is easily installed and with a nominal 1" of adjustment makes it easier to get a proper fit at the ceiling. Operation of the sprinkler occurs when heat build up causes the solder holding the cover plate to the support shell to melt allowing the cover plate to fall clear. Continued heat build up causes the 3mm glass bulb to burst allowing the deflector to drop down and distribute water in an approved pattern to extinguish or control the fire. NFPA 13 requires the use of retaining straps with all beam clamps installed in earthquake areas. Satisfies requirements of NFPA 13 (1999) 6-4.7.1. Features - Beveled locking slot* is precisely formed to align with the threaded section of a hanger rod or set screw and engage the unit securely. May be used as shown in section "A-A" or inverted. Allows easy installation for new construction or retrofit applications. Important Note - Good installation practice of a retaining strap requires that the strap be held tightly and securely to all component parts of the assembly. Therefore a locking mecha- nism of some kind, such as the beveled locking slot of the Fig. 69R or a hex nut tightened against other types of retaining straps will provide a more secure and reliable installation. Approvals - Underwriters' Laboratories listed in the USA (UL) and Canada (cUL). Approved for use with any listed beam clamp. Aluminum's high strength to weight ratio helps greatly reduce overall cost cf installation through ease of handling and cutting. Channels are extruded from aluminum alloy 6063-16. Closure strips are extruded from aluminum alloy 6063-T5. Fittings and accessories are made from aluminLn alloy 5052-H32. Stainless Steel Where corrosion problems persist and other material and fittings are ineffective, we recommend use of corrosion resistant stainless steel channels and accessories. Channels and fittings are available in two types of stainless steel: SS4-AISI Type 304 SS6-AISI Type 316 Fittings Most fittings, as shown in this catalog, can be supplied in aluminum or stainless steel. Consult factory for possible minimum production qiantities and set-up charges. Load Data Aluminum Channel's approximate load data car be determined by multblying load data in the steel channel section of this catalog by a factor of 0.38.
