These con- trol panels provide reliable fire signaling protection for small to medium-sized commercial, industrial, and institutional build- ings. Both panels include built-in communicators for Central Station Service and remote upload/download. Each of these FACPs is compatible with System Sensor's microprocessor-based i3 series detectors. These conventional smoke detectors can transmit a maintenance trouble signal to the FACP indicating the need for cleaning and a supervisory "freeze" signal when the ambient temperature falls below the detector rating. Additionally, both the MS-5UD-3 and MS- 1OUD-7 are compatible with conventional input devices such as two- and four-wire smoke detectors, pull stations, waterf low devices, tamper switches, and other normally-open contact devices. Refer to the Fire-Lite Device Compatibility Document for a complete listing of compatible devices. Outputs include four NACs (Notification Appliance Circuits), three programmable Form-C relays (factory programmed for Alarm, Trouble, and Supervisory) and 24 VDC special applica- tion resettable and nonresettable power outputs. The FACPs supervise all wiring, AC voltage, battery level and telephone line integrity. Activation of a compatible smoke detector or any normally- open fire alarm initiating device will activate audible and visual signaling devices, illuminate an indicating LED, sound the piezo sounder at the FACP, activate the communicator and FACP alarm relay, and operate an optional module used to notify a remote station or initiate an auxiliary control function. New options include a UL listed printer, PRN-6F and FireLite's IPDACT Internet Monitoring module. The FireWatch Series internet monitoring modules IPDACT-2 and IPDACT-2UD per- mit monitoring of alarm signals over the Internet saving the monthly cost of two telephone lines. Although not required, the secondary telephone line may be retained providing backup communication over the public switched telephone line. NOTE: The MS-5UD-3E and MS-10UD-7E offers the same fea- tures as the MS-5UD-3 and MS-10UD-7 but allow connection to 240 VAC. To calculate the non-fire alarm load on the system power supply when primary power is applied, use Calculation Column 1 in Table 7.3 on page 118. The control panel must support a larger load current during a fire alarm condition. To calculate the fire alarm load on the power supply, use Calculation Column 2 in Table 7.3 on page 118. The secondary power source (batteries) must be able to power the system during a primary power loss. To calculate the non-fire alarm load on the secondary power source, use Calculation Column 3 in Table 7.3 on page 118. IF YOU DO NOT PROCEED IN THE ORDER AND MANNER PRESCRIBED, YOU MAY NOT COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION IN THE TIME ALLOCATED. STEP 1: REGISTER FOR CELLULAR SERVICE Complete the Registration Form online at wwwTelguard.com or fax the form to Telguard Customer Service prior to leaving for the job site. Telular requires this information to register and activate the unit STEP 2: LOCATE UNIT AND MEASURE SIGNAL STRENGTH (RSSI) First, you will be confirming that Telguard has adequate cellular signal strength. Press the LED/RSSI Mode Toggle button one time, LEDs will now indicate signal strength. Minimum recommended is 3 (3 on solid) with multiple towers in range (LED 1 on solid). Press the LED/RSSI Mode Toggle button a second time to exit RSSI mode. STEP 3: CONFIGURE PANEL ALARMS FOR SOLE PATH CONNECTION Fire panels are typically provided with two Telco connections. Because the TG-7FS provides a single connection, the panel must be set up accordingly. The first method of installation is to configure the panel to disable the second Telco connection. If this is not an option due to panel limitations, it is possible to splice both TIP and RING connections from the panel into the single jack of the Telguard. The TG-7FS is capable of providing dial tone to both Telco connections. STEP 4: PROGRAM, ACTIVATE & TRANSMIT PANEL ALARMS OVER THE CELLULAR RADIO NETWORK Program the TG-7FS for Sole Path communication. You may do this by setting Memory Location 831 to a value of 3, using a butt-set. (See programming guide on reverse). LED 3 will be off when idle, if successful. Next, connect the alarm panel's digital dialer output to Telguard and verify that alarm signals can be reliably sent through Telguard over cellular to the central station digital receiver. A minimum of two alarm signals must be transmitted. (NOTE: THE FIRST ALARM WILL ACTIVATE THE UNIT AT THE TELULAR COMMUNICATION CENTER, IT WILL NOT GO TO THE CENTRAL STATION, ALL SIGNALS AFTER THE FIRST ARE SENT TO THE CENTRAL STATION) STEP 5: CONNECT SUPERVISORY TRIP OUTPUTS Next, you will wire Telguard's supervisory trip outputs to the alarm panel and then test. It is UL Listed and FM Approved for use on steel pipe; schedules 10 through 40, sizes 2" thru 8" (50mm thru 200mm). LPC approved sizes are 2" thru 8" (50mm thru 200mm). The unit may also be used as a sectional waterfiow detector on large systems. The unit contains two single pole, double throw, snap action switches and an adjustable, instantly recycling pneumatic re- tard. The switches are actuated when a flow of 10 gallons per minute (38 LPM) or more occurs downstream of the device. The flow condition must exist for a period of time necessary to overcome the selected retard period. ENCLOSURE: The unit is enclosed in a general purpose, die- cast housing. The cover is held in place with two tamper resis- tant screws which require a special key for removal. A field in- stallable cover tamper switch is available as an option which may be used to indicate unauthorized removal of the cover. On horizontal pipe they should be installed on the top side of the pipe where they will be accessible. The units should not be in- stalled within 6" (15cm) of a fitting which changes the direction of the waterfiow or within 24" (60 cm) of a valve or drain. Drain the system and drill a hole in the pipe using a circular saw in a slow speed drill. The 2" (50mm) and 2 1/2" (65mm) devices require a hole with a diameter of 1 1/4" + 1/8" - 1/16" (33mm ±2mm). All other sizes require a hole with a diameter of 2" ±1/8" (50mm ±2mm). Clean the inside pipe of all growth or other material for a dis- tance equal to the pipe diameter on either side of the hole. Roll the vane so that it may be inserted into the hole; do not bend or crease it. Insert the vane so that the arrow on the saddle points in the direction of the waterfiow. Install the saddle strap and tighten nuts alternately to an eventual 50 ft-lbs. (68 n-m) of torque (see Fig. 2). The vane must not rub the inside of the pipe or bind in any way. With the valve in the FULL OPEN position, locate the OSYSU across the valve yoke as far as possible from the valve gland, so that the trip rod lays against the non- threaded portion of the valve stem. Loosen the locking screw that holds the trip rod in place and adjust the rod length (see Fig. 4). When adjusted properly, the rod should extend past the valve screw, but not so far that it contacts the clamp bar. Tighten the locking screw to hold the trip rod in place. NOTE: If trip rod length is excessive, loosen the locking screw and remove the trip rod from the trip lever. Using pliers, break off the 1" (25mm) long notched section (see Fig. 5). Reinstall trip rod and repeat Step 3 procedure. Mount the OSYSU loosely with the carriage bolts and clamp bar supplied. On valves with limited clearance use J-hooks supplied instead of the carriage bolts and clamp bar to mount the OSYSU. Mark the valve stem at the center of the trip rod. Remove the OSYSU. File a 1/8" (3,2mm) deep groove centered on the mark on the valve stem utilizing a 3/16" (4,8mm) round, non-tapered file. Round and smooth the edges of the groove to prevent damage to the valve packing and to allow the trip rod to move easily in and out of the groove as the valve is operated. Mount the OSYSU with the trip rod centered in groove. Final adjustment is made by loosening 2 screws (see Fig. 1) and sliding the OSYSU on the bracket. Adjustment is correct when switches are not activated with the trip rod seated in the valve stem groove and that the switches activate when the trip rod moves out of the groove. Tighten the adjustment screws and all mounting hardware. Check to insure that the rod moves out of the groove easily and that the switches activate within one turn when the valve is operated from the FULL OPEN towards the CLOSED position.
