OPERATION During fire conditions, the heat-sensitive liquid in the glass bulb expands, causing the glass to shatter, releasing the pip cap and sealing spring assembly. Water flowing through the sprinkler orifice strikes the sprinkler deflector, forming a uniform spray pattern to extinguish or control the fire. S INSPECTIONS, TESTS AND MAINTENANCE Refer to NFPA 25 for Inspection, Testing and Maintenance requirements. The coupling housing and gasket are wider than stan- dard grooved couplings, providing space for the out- let area. When used on other than standard grooved pipe, contact Vic- taulic for recommenda- tions. The outlet gasket is designed to seal on the joined pipe ends and in the neck of the outlet. A steel ring insert reinforces the neck opening. The outlet can be prepared for grooved, female threaded or male threaded connections. NOTE: Style 72 couplings are primarily intended for use when flow is out from the outlet. Flow into the outlet should not exceed 7 ft/sec. Style 72 Outlet couplings are not recommended for vacuum service. NOTE: Style 72 Outlet cou- plings are designed for application to pipe and may require additional factory preparation ,for Use with fit- tings. Outlet Coupling PRODUCT DESCRIPTION FireLock Outlet coupling Style 073 has a unique, pat- ented angle-pad design which allows the housing to offset while clamping the grooves. By permitting the housings to slide on the angled bolt pads, rigidity is obtained. This rigidity is particularly used for fast, easy assembly of Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR) and Extra Large Orifice (ELO) sys- tems frequently used for warehouse storage protec- tion. A new gasket design eases installation and the angle- pad housing allows swing- over assembly. The gasket is designed to seal on the joined pipe ends and around the outlet. A steel insert reinforces the gasket at the outlet. Style 073 Outlet couplings are not recommended for vacuum service. Patented DIMENSIONS Is 10.12-lA Allow. Coupling Dimensions - Inches/mm Max.
