No fire alarm system will sustain itself over the full life expectancy of a building. Eventually the fire alarm control panel or system in that building will need to be replaced. In an existing building, the replacement of fire alarm control unit due to obsolescence, catastrophic failure, voluntary or the addition of ADA required notification appliances is not intended to retroactively require a complete fire alarm system upgrade or compliance with current code requirements not in place at the time when the fire alarm system was originally installed. The replacement of a fire alarm control unit, necessary to support construction improvements within a portion of a building, shall also not retroactively require a complete fire alarm system upgrade. Where the existing fire alarm control unit is replaced with a fire alarm control unit of a different manufacturer or utilizing devices of a different technology, the existing initiating devices and conductors may be replaced on a one-for-one basis in the existing locations, provided those devices had been installed in accordance with their listings and location(s) at time of installation, for compatibility with the new fire alarm control unit. Minor expansion to the fire alarm system such as the addition of circuits or modules to monitor existing supervisory conditions (existing system that utilize a trouble signal only to monitor the supervisory conditions), addition of an initiation device circuit or circuits, (where typically accomplished by installing a zone card in an unused slot, or adding a zone circuit board to the control unit), fire sprinkler control valve monitoring or the installation of a smoke detector at the fire alarm control unit location, etc, shall not retroactively require a complete fire alarm system upgrade. Page 1 of I El California State Fire Marshal Information Bulletin Issued: September 4, 2008 Creating a situation of multiple fire alarm control units should be avoided, however, it is not the intent of the code or standards to prohibit the addition of notification appliance circuit panels (NAC) or power supply extender panels. The authority having jurisdiction shall be consulted prior to the replacement of any fire alarm control unit or system modification, which shall include complete documentation in accordance with NFPA 72, California Fire Code and local requirements. Guhl, Supervising Deputy State Fire Marshal at (916) 445-8314 or by email at John.guhi@fire.ca.gov Page 2 of Law'v'a intc,9 ratd systems- PHONE: (760) 598-4110 FAX: (760) 598-4107 PART DESCRIPTION MANUFACTURER NFW2-100 FIRE ALARM CONTROL PANEL NOTIFIER CELLCOMSLCF CELL DIALER DMP NMM-100 MONITOR MODULE NOTIFIER NZM-100-6 6 ZONE EPANDER CARD NOTIFIER BB-XP CABINET ZONE EXPANDER CABINET NOTIFIER SSU00674 FIRE ALARM DOCUMENT CABINET SAE MT12/24 MULTI-TONE HORN @ WALL(FOR REFERENCE ONLY) WHEELOCK MHW MINI-HORN @ WALL(FOR REFERENCE ONLY) SYSTEM SENSOR 439D-6AW FIRE ALARM BELL(FOR REFERENCE ONLY) EDWARDS 2W-B SMOKE DETECTOR(FOR REFERENCE ONLY) SYSTEM SENSOR BG-12 PULL STATION(FOR REFERENCE ONLY) FIRELITE • Low Voltage Integrated Systems, Inc 1930 Watson Way, Ste L e Vista, California 92081 FIRE • SECURITY • CCTV • ACCESS CONTROL • SOUND • MEDIA LICENSE NO. C10, C16#791832 email: kyIeasdlvis.Com The Notifier FireWarden-100-2 Rev 3 (NFW2-100) with Version 5.0 firmware is a combination FACP (Fire Alarm Control Panel) and DACT (Digital Alarm Communicator/Transmitter) all on one circuit board. This compact intelligent addressable control panel has an extensive list of powerful features. The SLC (Signaling Line Circuit) of the FireWarden-100-2 Rev 3 operates using a Rapid Group Polling communication protocol technology that polls multiple devices simultaneously for a quicker device response time. This patented technology allows a fully-loaded panel with up to 198 devices to report an incident and activate the notification circuits in under 10 seconds. With this improved polling, devices can be wired on standard twisted, unshielded wire up to a distance of 10,000 feet. The 's quick-remove chassis protects the electronics during con- struction. The backbox can be installed allowing field wiring to be pulled. When construction is completed, the electronics can be quickly installed with just two bolts. New features for Rev 3 with Version 5.0 firmware include removable terminal blocks, improved transient protection, addi- tional secondary ANN-BUS, and increased power for the reset- table and remote sync outputs. Available accessories include ANN-BUS devices as well as ACS LED, graphic and LCD annunciators, and reverse polarity/city box transmitter. The integral DACT transmits system status (alarms, superviso- ries, troubles, AC loss, etc.) to a Central Station via the public switched telephone network. It also allows remote and local pro- gramming of the control panel using the PS-Tools Upload/Down- load utility. In addition, the control panel may be programmed or interrogated off-site via the public switched telephone network. Any personal computer with Windows® XP or greater, a com- patible modem, and PS-Tools—the Upload/Download software kit—may serve as a Service Terminal. This allows download of the entire program or upload of the entire program, history file, walktest data, current status and system voltages. The panel can also be programmed through the FACP's keypad or via a standard PS-2 computer keyboard, which can be plugged directly into the printed circuit board. This permits easy typing of address labels and other programming information. Version 5.0 firmware supports the following: Primary and Sec- ondary ANN-bus devices, NP-A100, USB port, NAC circuit diag- nostics, a new report has been added to the walk-test that lists untested devices, new device types added: audio telephone type code for NFV-25/50ZST, Photo Supervisory and auto-reset- table Drill (non-latching). The FireWatch Series internet monitoring modules IPDACT-2 and IPDACT-2UD permit monitoring of alarm signals over the Internet saving the monthly cost of two dedicated business tele- phone lines. Although not required, the secondary telephone line may be retained providing backup communication over the public switched telephone line. NOTE: Unless otherwise specified, the term "Fire Warden-100-2" is used in this document to refer to both the Fire Warden-100-2 and the Fire Warden-100-2E FACPs (Fire Alarm Control Panels). Features Plug-in detector line, mounting base included Large wire entry port In-line terminals with SEMS screws Mounts to octagonal and single-gang back boxes, 4-square back boxes, or direct to ceiling Stop-Drop 'N Lock attachment to base Removable detector cover and chamber Built-in remote maintenance signaling Drift compensation and smoothing algorithms Simplified sensitivity measurement Wide-angle, dual-color LED indication Loop testing via EZ Walk feature Built-in test switch Agency Listings LISTED 0911 APPROVED 3011446 7272-1653:152 approved 290-01-8 MEAMSFM approved 2093 C US (T) 3180932 Installation ease. The P line redefines installation ease with its plug-in design. This allows an installer to pre-wire bases (included with heads). The large wire entry port and in-line terminals provide ample room for neatly routing the wiring inside the base. The base accommodates a variety of back box mounting methods as well as direct mounting with drywall anchors. To complete the installation, i heads plug into the base with a simple Stop-Drop 'N Lock action. Intelligence. il detectors offer a number of intelligent features to simplify testing and maintenance. Drift compensation and smoothing algorithms are standard with the P line to minimize nuisance alarms. 2-wire P detectors can generate a remote LED- indicated maintenance signal when connected to the 2W-MOD2 loop test/maintenance module or a panel equipped with the P protocol. The SENS-RDR, a wireless device, displays the sensitivityof P detectors in terms of percent-per-foot obscuration. Instant inspection. The P series provides wide-angle red and green LED indicators for instant inspection of the detector's condition: normal standby, out-of-sensitivity, alarm, or freeze trouble. When connected to the 2W-MOD2 loop test/maintenance module or a panel with the P protocol, the EZ Walk loop test feature is available on 2-wire il detectors. This feature verifies the initiating loop wiring by providing LED status indication at each detector.
