sign elevations containing the following information:
1. North arrow and scale.
2. Location of existing buildings or structures, parking areas, and vehicular access points to the
property.
3. Location of all existing and proposed signs for the property.
4. Distance to the property line(s) for all proposed freestanding sign(s).
5. Provide an elevation for all proposed sign(s) which specifies the following:
A. Dimensions and area for all existing and proposed sign(s).
B. Materials the sign(s) will be constructed of.
C. Source of Illumination.
D. Proposed sign copy.
APPLICANT MUST SUBMIT THREE (3) SETS OF SIGN/SITE PLANS, A COMPLETED
APPLICATION FORM, AND THE APPLICATION FEE.

APPLICATIONS
The following example illustrates the information that is required for all pole, monument, and
freestanding sign permit applications. Prior to approval, all such proposed signs must be reviewed
for potential issues by the Transportation Department, which will not allow signs to be approved
over the counter. Additional time will be required for on-site inspection.

Relationship to Streets: Signs shall be designed and located so as not to interfere with the
unobstructed clear view of the public right-of-way and nearby traffic regulatory signs of any
pedestrian, bicyclist or motor vehicle driver.

The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) of the Carlsbad Research Center (CRC) has
reviewed your wall sign application submitted on behalf of your tenant, CAL/ AMP, for your
building located at 2200 Faraday Avenue on lot 45-1 of the CRC.
The submitted plans are proposing a single wall sign on the south elevation of your building. There is an
existing wall sign on this elevation previously approved by the ARC for ARLO TECHNOLOGIES. Per
the total building area for your property, you are allowed up to two wall signs per elevation. There are
specific requirements in the CRC Design Guidelines that must be met when it comes to having two wall
signs on a single elevation. Per section 6.10 of the Signage Guidelines; A building elevation must have a
minimum frontage of 150 linear feet to have more than one sign per elevation. The minimum spacing
between wall signs along an elevation shall not be less than 75 feet. The cumulative length of wall signs
on an elevation cannot exceed 1/3 of the length of the same elevation.
Your submitted plans are consistent with the CRC Design Guidelines and therefore are considered
APPROVED.
Please note that per the CRC Design Guidelines section 6.10, a building of your size is allowed up to 3
wall signs. Including this approved CAL/ AMP sign and the existing approved ARLO
TECHNOLOGIES sign, your building is still allowed one more wall sign. Any future wall sign must not
exceed 24 inches in logo/lettering height. Finally, no future proposed wall sign can be placed on the
south elevation.
You may proceed with the construction and installation of your sign once a sign permit is
obtained from the City of Carlsbad. Please forward a copy of your City sign permit to:
