Following installation, any secure engagement of the
cover plate as sem bty and cup assuresthatthesprin kier de-
flector is property positioned relative to the ceilrg.
The Reliable Model F1/RES CCP Concealed Sprinkler
must be in stalled in ceilings with a neu traJ or negative pres-
sure in the plenum space above the sprinkler.
After installation, inspect all sprinklers to ensure that both
the gap be tween the cover plate and skirt and the cup slots
are open and free from any air flow impediment.
Apply a Teflon*-based thread sealant to the sprinkler
threads only. Af terthe pro tee tive cap is re rroved, thervlodel
RC1 Wrench is then used to engage the sprinkler wrenctr-
ing surfaces and to install the sprinkler in the fittin~. A 2(
{67mm) di ameterholecutinto the ceiling al lowsspnn klerin-
staJlation and is property covered by the cover plate. Push the cover plate assembly by hand into the cup. FinaJad just--
ment, if re quired, is made by tum ing the cover plate until the

Concealed cover plate/cup assemblies are listed
only for use with specific sprinklers. The use of any
other concealed cover plate/cup assembly with the
Model F1/RES 18 Sprinkler or the use of the Model
CCP Concealed cover plate assembly on any sprin-
kler with which it is not specificallylistedmayprevent
good fire protection and will void all guarantees, war-
ranties, listings and approvals.
Maintenance
Models F1 !RES CCP Residential Sprinklers should be in-
spected quarterly, and the sprinkler system maintained in
accordance with NFPA 25, 13, 130 and 13A. Do not clean
sprinkler with soap and water, ammoniaoranyotherclean-

standard sprinkler with the attractive low profile a a decora-
tive sprinkler.
The Models F1FR and F1FR Recessed autanatic sprin-
klers utilize a 3.0 nm frangible glass bulb. These sprinklers
have demonstrated response times in laborataytestsvdlich
are five to ten times faster than standard l'8SfXlOS8 sprin-
klers. This quick respa,se enables the Model F1FR and
F1 FR Recessed sprinklers to apply water to a fire much
faster than standard sprinklers of the sarm temperature rat-rg.
The glass bulb consists of an accurately cootrolled
amount of special fluid hooneticaDy sealed Inside a p-e-
cisely manufactured glass capsule. lhis glass bulb is spe-
cially constructed to provide fast thermal respoose. The
balance of parts are made of b'"ass, copper and beryfJium
ni~norrnal temperatures, the glass bulb contains the fluid
in both the Uquid and vapor phases. The vapor ph~ can
be soon as a small bubble. ~heatisap plied, the 6q UJd ex-
pands, forcing the bubble smaller Sl)d smaller as ~ r~uid
pressure increases. Continued heating faces the UqUJd to
push out against the bulb, causing the g~ 1D shatter,
opening the waterway and allowing the deflector to distrib-

Installation
Quick response sprinklers are intended fa' i~tallation
as specified in NFPA 13. Quick respoose s~klers and
standard r8Sp(X"lse sprinklers should not be intermixed.
The Model F1 FR Recessed Quick Respoose Sprinklers
are to be installed as sro.vn. The Model F1 or F2 Escutch-eons illustrated are the ool_y r~ escutcheons to be
used with the Model F1 FR Sprinklers. The use cl any other
recessedescutch eonwmvoidallapprCNalsandnegateal warranties.
Whan in stalling Model F1 FR Sprinklers, use the Model D
Sprinkler Wrench. 'Nhen installing Model F1 FR Recessed
Sidewall Sprinklers, use the Model GFR1 Sprinkler
Wrench. Use the fv1odel RC1 Wrench for installing F1FR
Recessed Pendent Sprinklers. Any other type of wrench may damage these sprinklers.

Maintenance
The Models F1FR and F1FR A8C8SSed Sprinklers
should be inspected quarterfy and the sprinkler system
maintained il accordance with NFPA 25. D:> na clean sprinklers with soap and water, amrna,ia or any other
cleaning ffu ids. Re move dust by LSing a soft brush <Xgen-
Ue vacuuming. Remove any sprinkler which has been
painted (other than factay appUed) a dama~ i, ~ way. A stock cl spare sprinklers should be mcuntained to
allow quick replacemerit ci damaged or operated sprin-
klers. Prior to irsallation, sprinklers should be maintained
in the 9riginal cartoos and packaging until used to mini-I
mize the potential fer damage to sprinklers that would cause inproper operatoo or noo-operatioo.
