Reliable Models GFR and GFR Recessed s~ are
Quick Response fusible sol dertype au to rnatic sprin lders.
These sprinklers have demonstrated response times in
laboratory tests which are five times faster than standard
response sprinklers.
This quick response enables the Models GFR and
GFR Re cessed Sprin klers to ap ply wa ter to a fire much
faster than standard response sprinklers of the same
temperaturerating.
Application
Quick response sprinklers are used in fixed fire pro tec-
tion sys terns: Wet, Dry, De luge or Preaction. Care must
be exercised that the orifice saze, tern per a ture rating, de-
flee tor style and sprin kier spacing are in accordance with
the lat est published standards of the National Fire Proteo-
tion Association or the approving Authority Having Juris-
diction. Quick response sprinklers are intended for
standard area cover age and standard water densities as
specified in NFPA 13. Quick response sprinklers and
stan dard response sprin kJers should not be inter mixed.

Installation
Quick response sprinklers are in tended fer standard area
coverage and standard water densties as specified in
NFPA-13. Quick~~ and standard re-
sponse sprinklers should not be inter rrixed.
The Mcx:tel GFRRe cessed Quick Response Sprin kleris to
be in staled as shown. The Model F1 or F2 Es rutch eons i-
lustrated are the only recessed esa.tcheons to be used
YJitt1 the Model GFRPen dentorHcrizontal Sidewal Spril-
klers. The use of any other recessed es ruch eon will void
al approvals as a quick response sprin kier and negate an·
warranties.
When installing Model GFR ~, use the Model D
Sprinkler Wrench and when instar11g Model GFR Re-
cessed Sprinklers, use the Model GFR1 SJ)lin kier Wrench.
Any other type of wrench may cause sprin kier dam age.
Maintenance
The Models GFR and GFRRe cessed Sprinklers should be
inspected quartet1y and the sprin kier system maintained in
accordance with NFPA 25. Do not clean the sprinklers
with soap and water, am mo nia or any other deaning flu ids.
Re move any dust using a soft brush or gen tie vac u Lm ing.
Re move any sprin kier which has been painted {other than
factory applied) or dam aged in any way. A stock of spare
sprinklers should be maintained to alow quick re place-
ment of dam aged or operated sprinklers. Prior to in stal la-
tion, sprinklers should be main ta1ned in the original cartons
and packaging un tl1 used. This minimizes the potential for
damageresultanginimproperoperationornon-operation.
