Subject: 2023 Housing Commission Meeting Schedule
Recommended Action
Adopt a resolution establishing the 2023 Housing Commission meeting schedule.
Executive Summary
The Carlsbad Municipal Code (CMC) established a Housing Commission to advise the City
Council on housing related matters. CMC Chapter 2.40 states the Housing Commission shall
meet regularly, on days and times established by the commission for the transaction of
business. The Housing Commission is being asked to set the 2023 regular meeting schedule.
Discussion
The Housing Commission establishes its regular meeting schedule annually by Resolution. In
September 2021, the Housing Commission voted to hold meetings at 6 p.m. on the 2nd
Thursday of the month based on work schedules of some members. City staff is bringing this
up for Housing Commission discussion because recently, city staff experienced challenges filling
the senior citizen tenant vacancy. Several potential applicants did comment that they were not
able to participate in person if meetings were in the evening.
The Housing Commission is being asked to set the 2023 regular meeting schedule. If 6 p.m. is
still the desired time by consensus of the Housing Commission, staff recommends the Housing
Commission set the 2023 meeting schedule for the following Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.:

April 13, 2023
May 11, 2023
June 8, 2023
August 10, 2023
September 14, 2023
October 12, 2023

In addition to the above regular meetings, special meetings of the Housing Commission can be
called as necessary.
Fiscal Analysis
There is no fiscal impact by this action.
Environmental Evaluation
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 21065, this action does not constitute a “project”
within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) in that it has no
potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment, or a reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and therefore does not require
environmental review.
Public Notification and Outreach
Public notice of this item was posted in keeping with the state’s Ralph M. Brown Act and it was
available for public viewing and review at least 72 hours before the scheduled meeting date.

RESOLUTION NO. 2023-
A RESOLUTION OF THE HOUSING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE HOUSING COMMISSION 2023 REGULAR
MEETING SCHEDULE
WHEREAS, the Housing Commission of the City of Carlsbad, California has determined it will
establish its scheduled regular meetings by Resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Ralph M. Brown Act (Government Code §54954) provides for the establishment
of an annual regular meeting calendar procedure; and
WHEREAS, special meetings of the Housing Commission will be called as necessary following
the requirements of the Brown Act (Government Code §54956).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Housing Commission of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1.That the above recitations are true and correct.
2.For calendar year 2023, the regular Housing Commission meetings shall take place on
the following Thursdays at p.m.

March 16, 2023
April 13, 2023
May 11, 2023
June 8, 2023
