(GeoTek) has prepared this letter to provide portland cement concrete (PCC) section recommendations for the site driveway associated with the project development. An assumed R-Value of 25 was used for design purposes. Upon the completion of grading a representative sample of the subgrade should be collected for R-Value testing to verify the pavement section. Using the assumed R-value (R=25) and assumed Traffic Indices (TI) of 5.0, it is recommended that the portland cement concrete pavement section designed be constructed with the following pavement structural sections presented below: Portland Cement Concrete Pavement The pavement should consist of 6-inches of portland cement concrete over compacted subgrade. The upper 12-inches of the pavement subgrade should be compacted to 95-percent relative compaction with at least 100% of optimum moisture content (ASTM: D 1557). All subgrade should exhibit firm and unyielding conditions prior to placement of the Portland cement concrete. Portland cement concrete should have a minimum 28-day compressive strength of at least 3,200- psi with contraction joints to control shrinkage spaced at no greater than 12.5-feet. Joints should create square panels where possible. For rectangular panels (where necessary), the long dimension should be no more than 1.5 times the short dimension. Joint depth should be at least 0.25 of the pavement thickness.
