A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CA LIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE USE OF THE CALAVERA HILLS COMMUNITY
CENTER ACTIVITY ROOM, ALGA NORTE COMMUNITY PARK MEETING ROOM
301 (GENERAL ELECTION ONLY), PINE AVENUE COMMUNITY CENTER
ACTIVITY ROOM AND STAGECOACH COMMUNITY CENTER ACTIVITY ROOM
AS VOTE CENTER LOCATIONS AND WAIVING ANY ASSOCIATED FEES FOR
THEIR USE IN THE 2024 PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTIONS
WHEREAS, on Oct. 19, 2021, the County of San Diego Board of Supervisors approved the
transition to the Voter's Choice Act model; and
WHEREAS, vote centers will be replacing traditional neighborhood polling places; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with California Elections Code Section 1283(b)(2), the County of Saii
Diego Registrar of Voters is requesting the use of the Calavera Hills Community Center Activity Room,
Pine Avenue Community Center Activity Room and Stagecoach Community Center Activity Room as
vote center locations for the 2024 Primary Election as follows:

11 days from Saturday, Feb. 23, 2024, through Monday, Feb. 4,
2024, from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 5,
2024, from 6:15 a.m. until 11 p.m.
4 days from Saturday, March 2, 2024, through Monday March 4,
2024, from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 5,
2024, from 6:15 a.m. until 11 p.m.
4 days from Saturday, March 2, 2024, through Monday March 4,
2024, from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 5,
2024, from 6:15 a.m. until 11 p.m. to accommodate drop-off, set-
up, voting, breakdown and pick-up; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with California Elections Code Section 1283(b)(2), the County of San
Diego Registrar of Voters is requesting the use of the Calavera Hills Community Center Activity Room,
Alga Norte Community Park Meeting Room 301, Pine Avenue Community Center Activity Room and
Stagecoach Community Center Activity Room as vote center locations for the 2024 General Election as

voting, breakdown and pick-up; and
WHEREAS, Ca lifornia Elections Code Section 12283(b){l) allows the city to provide the
requested facilities for the Registrar of Voter's use without cost to the county; and
WHEREAS, authorizing the use of the requested facilities as vote center locations for the 2024
Primary and General Elections and waiving any associated facility use fees serves a public purpose and
provide a public benefit because it increases in-person voting opportunities within Carlsbad.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as
follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council authorizes the use of the Calavera Hills Community Center Activity
Room, Alga Norte Community Park Meeting Room 301 (General Election only), Pine
Avenue Community Center Activity Room and Stagecoach Community Center Activity
Room as vote center locations for the 2024 Primary and General Election and waives
any associated facilities use fees; however, if the county offers a stipend for the use of
the city's facilities, the City Clerk's Office is authorized to accept the stipend.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of
Carlsba d on the 18th day of :!.!!!Y, 2023, by the following vote, to wit:
