Repeat comments that are still not satisfied are noted as such and remain. New comments are provided below. 1ST REVIEW COMMENTS: 1. Please pay fees as included in Invoice No. 00103185 dated June 7, 2022. 2. Please sign and date the “City of Carlsbad – Planning Division Certificate of Accuracy” statement included in the application as Form P-37 and return for continued review. Without said certification, the sign permit cannot be approved. 3. Please update Title Sheet Exhibits (sheet 1) to include the following: a. Please arrange title sheet information so as to create a blank area such that the City of Carlsbad Approval Stamp can be applied. b. Please add the applicant’s contact information: Name, address, phone number and email address. 4. For wall and facia signs, please be aware that the total sign area shall not exceed 1.5 square feet per lineal feet of building frontage. Pursuant to the approved Sign Program for the North County Plaza, “Building frontage” shall be defined as the longest dimension of the building, regardless of street orientation. Please update the Sign Permit Exhibit Package to include a floor plan outlining the limits of tenant space and dimensioning the building frontage according to the above definition. Please also be aware that the sign program shows this tenant space as having a building frontage of 15 feet, which would equate to a maximum of 22 square feet of wall signage for this space. The exhibits are currently showing 38.16 square feet, almost twice the amount of signage that would be allowed for this building frontage. 5. Additionally, for wall and facia signs, please be aware that the length of any sign shall not exceed 75% of the length of the building frontage or lease space to which the sign pertains. As such, please update the Sign Permit Exhibit Package to demonstrate compliance. This may require additional graphics. 6. Sign Area shall be computed by measuring the smallest square, rectangle, triangle, circle or combination thereof, that will encompass the extreme limits of the graphic image, writing, representation, emblem or other display, together with any material or color forming an integral part of the background of the message or display or otherwise used to differentiate the sign from Sign Permit No: PS2022-0053 Date: 06/07/2022 Review No.: 01 Page 3 P-29 Page 3 of 3 07/11 the backdrop or structure against which it is placed [CMC § 21.41.070.A.1]. The proposed exhibits, at the most extreme, show 20-inch letter heights for wall Signs 1 and 3. Please revise the wall sign letters to comply. 8. Please note pursuant to the approved Sign Program for the North County Plaza, window Sign 2 can only be located within the upper window panel adjacent to the entrance door and cannot be of more than 144 square inches in size.
