Rece ive an overview of Arts Commission Com mittees an d vote to approve assignments.
Executive Summary
This report provides a draft of the proposed committee assignments for the Arts Commissioners
with a duration of one yea r or the length of a project. The City Council approved the revisions
to the Carlsbad Municipal Code Title 2, Chapter 2.18 on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, which then
clarified the status of committees. Ad-hoc committees may be created by the Arts Commission
for a specific purpose or task, such as business out reach . A mandated committee is a public art
advisory committee formed t o facilitate the se lection of public art associated with a city capital
improvement project, fu nded at one percent of the total project budget. Advisory committees
may be tied to the needs of Cultural Arts such as related an initiative within the city's Arts &
Cult ure Master Plan. Any potential conflicts of interest are considered when assigning an Arts
Commissioner to a specific committee.
