Bryan Meathe May 19, 2023 email From:Bryan Meathe To:Richard Schultz Cc:Wendy Sabin Lasker Subject:Carlsbad Music Festival Date:Friday, May 19, 2023 1:26:28 PM Hi Richard, After much back and forth, the board has made the difficult decision to close the organizationand cease all operations. We all had high hopes to see what the festival could do in the absence of Matt but alas, here we are. Ultimately, it's just become too much work for me to add to my already busy schedule and noone else on the board has the ability, or desire to step into that leadership role. It's been an uphill battle for a long time and I think we're all just tired. We know that unless someone has a vested interest in really being the catalyst for growth etc,it's highly likely the organization will continue to be unsustainable and unstable. For that result, it's just not worth it. Nor is it fair to the public, the donors, the volunteers or thegrantors. I understand that we were just awarded a two-year grant so the timing is not perfect but I'm hoping that money can be used for another program that will impact the community in greatways. Can't thank you, your team, and the city enough for all the support and advocacy over the years. I do like to stay very active in the community and in the arts so I'm hopeful our paths willcross again in the future. Thanks again!
