Fire Department. Submittals of any Underground systems shall be made directly to the Carlsbad Fire
Department and shall not be included with Overhead sprinkler plans other than "For Reference Only".
No third-party plan reviewer has the authority to 'approve' plans to be submitted to the Carlsbad
Fire Department.

outlined in the San Diego Area Regional Standards Drawings and Carlsbad Fire Department Guidelines
(see attached), this shall include polysleeve and and greasing or waxing as required. This process
requires a visual inspection prior to burial. Failure to obtain an inspection prior to covering or
burial wilil result in excavating all unapproved and un-inspected work.

Show location of each backflow prevention device serving each building or group of buildings.
Fire Department Connections (FDC) shal be located no less than forty- (40) lineal feet from any
structureand shall be accessible to fire apparatus along an approved vehicle route and within
ninety- (90) lineal feet of a fire hydrant.
Prior to connection of underground service main to the overhead fire sprinkler system, the
underground system after being flushed, shall be hydraulically flow tested to ensure that the
service main is of sufficient design and capacity for the overhead system demands.
