This letter report was prepared for submission to the City of Carlsbad as documentation of the completion of the cultural resources monitoring program conditioned as part of the development approval process by the City. Introduction and Site Location: The Aviara East Project is situated on the east site of Aviara Parkway, at 1380 Laurel Tree Lane, in the city of Carlsbad, San Diego County, California (Figure 1). The subject property is within an unsectioned portion of the U.S. Geological Survey Encinitas, California (7.5-minute) topographic quadrangle map (Township 12 South, Range 4 West [Projected]) (Figure 2). The project consists of the development of an approximately 1.7-acre apartment complex and associated infrastructure within Assessor Parcel Number 212-040-76. The cultural resources monitoring program for the Aviara East Project involved the observation of grading of the property in compliance with City of Carlsbad environmental regulations and the project’s permit conditions. This project was approved by the City of Carlsbad with a Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program (MMRP) requiring paleontological monitoring during grading (Mitigation Measure GEO-1).
