The alarm bell must be capable of being heard, above background noise, with doors closed, in all living areas of the residence. This will be checked at final acceptance. Pressure required at base of riser will be verified to be available at time of final acceptance. Sprinkler heads are omitted from bathroom areas under 55 SF in area with noncombustible plumbing fixtures. Fixtures will be verified at final acceptance. Sprinkler head blockage or pattern disruption caused by beams or other obstructions will be verified to not exist at final acceptance inspection. Sprinkler heads should be located the proper distance from heat sources (stoves, kitchen ranges, fireplaces, heat diffusers, etc.) This will be checked at final acceptance inspection. Sprinkler heads located in an unconditioned space (garage, water heater closet, etc.) should be fast response type with an appropriate temperature rating, commercial heads are acceptable in these areas. All exposed piping shall be black steel or copper.
