HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-12-05; City Council; Resolution 2023-281RESOLUTION NO. 2023-281 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO APPROPRIATE $195,000 FROM THE GENERAL FUND TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S FISCAL YEAR 2023-24 OPERATING BUDGET TO COMPLETE THE OUTFITTING OF 34 MARKED TAKE-HOME POLICE VEHICLES WHEREAS, on Aug. 30, 2022, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2022-210, appropriating $2,400,000 for the purchase of 34 fully outfitted marked police vehicles; and WHEREAS, due to cost of the base vehicle pricing available through the State of California's contract with Folsom Lake Ford, on Dec. 06, 2022, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2022-273, appropriating an additional $313,675 for the vehicle purchases; and WHEREAS, on March 14, 2023, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2023-080, authorizing the modification of the intended purchase from hybrid engines to standard combustion engine vehicles; and WHEREAS, all 34 vehicles have been purchased, manufactured, and delivery is in progress; and WHEREAS, the required vehicle modifications, including a change in the lighting systems supplier and cost increases in radio communication equipment, have increased the anticipated per vehicle outfitting cost by approximately $5,735 per vehicle; and WHEREAS, the current deficit in the budget to complete the outfitting of the 34 marked take- home police vehicles is $195,000; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the city to complete the outfitting of all 34 marked take-home police vehicles. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the City Manager or designee is authorized to appropriate $195,000 from the General Fund to the Police Department's fiscal year 2023-24 operating budget. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Carlsbad on the 5th day of December, 2023, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: NAYS: ABSTAIN : ABSENT: Blackburn, Bhat-Patel, Acosta, Burkholder, Luna.
