REQUESTED ACTION: Consider adoption of a Traffic Safety Commission Resolution of
Commendation for Lt. Don Rawson.
BACKGROUND:
At the Traffic Safety Commission meeting on August 3, 2009, Lt. Rawson announced
that his retirement from the City of Carlsbad would be in early September. He mentioned
that he would return for part-time work later in September and assist the Police
Department until Lt. Reno returns in January 2010 from training at the FBI Academy in
Washington, D .C.
DATA:
The Commission expressed a desire to honor Lt. Rawson for his service to the Traffic
Safety Commission from September 13, 2004 until August 3, 2009 with a Resolution of
Commendation (attached).
RECOMMENDATION:
Action to be taken as determined by the Traffic Safety Commission.
NECESSARY CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
No City Council action required.

TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION
RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION OF
Lt. Don Rawson
WHEREAS, Lt. Don Rawson has provided technical expertise
and law enforcement knowledge and background on traffic matters
before the Traffic Safety Commission; and
WHEREAS, Lt. Don Rawson, as Supervisor in the Traffic
Division of the Carlsbad Police Department, was the police
representative to the Traffic Safety Commission from September 13,
2004 until August 3, 2009; and
WHEREAS, the Commission wishes to express their sincere
recognition of the valuable contribution that Lt. Don Rawson has
rendered to the Traffic Safety Commission during deliberations
involving matters of vehicular traffic and pedestrian safety.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Traffic Safety
Commission of the City of Carlsbad does hereby acknowledge and
extend its grateful appreciation to Lt. Don Rawson for his help and
assistance.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of
the Traffic Safety Commission held on the __ day of __ _
