REQUESTED ACTION: Presentation on Complete Streets
BACKGROUND:

On September 30, 2008, the California Complete Streets Act was signed into law by
Governor Schwarzenegger. The new requires cities to include complete streets policies
as part of their general plans so that roadways are designed to safely accommodate all
users, including bicyclists, pedestrians, transit riders, children, older people, and the
disabled, as well as motorists.
DATA:
Deputy Transportation Director, Bryan Jones, will present an update of how staff will be
utilizing the California Complete Streets Act to improve transportation in Carlsbad.
